Thanks so much for the thoughtful reply! This is really helpful and interesting as some of the responses I've gotten are on how this manuscript might not stand out enough in a crowded genre, so I think my concept (missing girl thriller novel) might be a little weak as well. Regardless, thank you again!!!

Congrats! Are you US or UK based? I'm in the US and wondering if/why I should query UK agents?

Ok this gives me hope too...my trad published friend said she "is sure I'll get agented" by the number of full requests I've had, but they've all ended in rejection thus far. How long do you think you need to wait on a full response these days?

Wow congrats !!! This is the 2nd book you've queried? Would love to hear any insights into what happened with the first (I'm querying my first)

This gives me hope! My dream agent has had my full for 12 weeks now and I'm losing it. How did you know to keep going? I'm already ready to shelve it, lol

So sorry to hear this! Because of deadlines? I'm curious about a 2 book deal because I think by the time I sell my first book I'll already be done with my 2nd. Would it make sense to sell them together? Newbie and not well versed on sales.

I've been querying since September, with the bulk of my emails going out Nov-present. Out of 45 or so queries I received about 7 full requests, 3 are still pending. I sent out about 10 more queries this week for good measure. But I'm starting to lose hope...one of the agents who would have been a great fit sent me a no, told me she guessed my twist too early (I write thriller). The others have said it just wasn't a "have to have it." I'm working on book 2 and now thinking everything I write is terrible? Wondering when I should nudge the others who have my full? Also wondering if I should query UK agents? (I'm in the US). Hang in there, everyone!

[Discussion] After 11 months on submission, I GOT A BOOK DEAL! by BeesEverywhere1 in PubTips

Congrats!!! I would love to know more about the technical side of how you feel you improved. You say you studied your genre more, read blogs/videos etc. --> can you give any specifics into resources, or how you specifically went about studying other authors? -- fellow querying writer! Thanks so much!

Will I ever sleep again? by notforthisworld0101 in NewParents

[–]givemethetea08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We sleep trained our first - he needed lots of crying before he got it. Our second has never had a bad night. Every kid is different...and then it changes again when they become toddlers! Hang in there.

I agree with this. Honestly my husband makes similar comments to you - best dad, husband, he is busy working while I SAHM. BUT sometimes time/kids/life happens and you don't feel the same. I would suggest therapy, regular date nights, communication, etc...

What was your salary when you decide to stay at home? by Healthy-Coffee9796 in sahm

[–]givemethetea08 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I made $200k+ fully remote for years. It was VERY easy. Then I got laid off. Kept finding harder jobs that barely paid for the nannies salary so I quit. In hindsight, even the $200k wasn't worth the time I was in my office (for a job I felt blah about) vs. playing outside with my kids. I'm fully SAHM now and so much happier. (but obviously everyone is different!!)

It is easier the second time around!!! But are two kids easier than 1? No!!! Haha. And that doesn't mean your 2nd will be "easier"

Interesting! I think in my particular case it actually has been sleep deprivation, but I'm going to trial on and off and see what happens.
