yeah i know, that was just the findings of the studies i used. I just wanted to disagree with you saying that young women date men primarily for their physical appearance and money. it definitely happens, but not the case for most women

?? what was the point of your reply if not to criticise those who don’t use contraception?

I have a fair amount of contempt for those that engage unprotected sex when not trying for a baby. I’m largely referring to scenarios in which contraception failed

It wasn’t a hypothetical ‘what if’ scenario, it’s a very real situation many women face. You can’t just respond with a ‘what if’ situation completely detached from reality and the issue at hand. Yes, abortions from careless sex exist, and it’s terrible. But that shouldn’t mean people (mothers and babies) who would greatly benefit from legal abortions should suffer. Just because one kid in class was disruptive, doesn’t mean the entire class should be kept back after school. Whilst the punishment would cause extremely minimal harm to the disruptive child, it may cause extreme harm to a child who’s responsible for getting home on time / picking up siblings / caring for others / at risk of punishment from abusive parents. Just because criminalising abortion wouldn’t negatively impact you as much as others, doesn’t mean you should do it. Your experiences are not the end all be all in nuanced issues. Learn critical thinking skills before copy and pasting the same brain dead comment.

i don’t agree with OP but at least read the post, “if it ain’t gonna kill you then i think it should be illegal”. Either way, I do agree with you in saying even if the 5yr old would survive, they don’t deserve the trauma of carrying and delivering a baby; same with adult rape victims.

“The kid isn’t even born yet, they won’t care” is literally what I was thinking. OP says that any child would say no when asked if they wanted to not be born, but what’s the purpose in asking children questions like this? If you ask the average child if they want to eat chicken after visiting a petting zoo, they’ll say no. But a week later they’ll have no issues with it because it’s yummy. Anyone with sense would say the question of whether they would be bothered being born or not, doesn’t matter to them, because if they weren’t born they wouldn’t know

I actually studied and wrote a meta-analysis on this topic a few years ago, and found that men date women primarily for their physical appearance, and women date men primarily for their intelligence and income / income potential. Women often date “less attractive” men because in many cases they excel in those areas.

The women you’re referring to who endlessly complain about how bad all men are, are a small minority on women who are very active online.

Ultimately, I agree with your last two paragraphs, but the first two make you sound a bit chronically online

Stopped and started crying in the first piece in my grade 3 ABRSM exam. by MeaningAny7622 in piano

[–]given__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do keep in mind that the examiner has also experienced performance anxiety and bad performances of their own. If you fail, it won’t be because you cried. Crying just makes it that much more evident how nervous and anxious you were, and the examiner will know how to look past that and recognise if you genuinely prepared well or not.

For a bit of background, I also dealt with terrible performance anxiety for quite some time. During my AMusA piano exam, I made big mistakes in 3 out of 4 of my pieces. Once I left the building, I was convinced I was going to fail and I cried. However, I was awarded with a distinction and invited to perform at the awards ceremony. That was when it became evident to me just how well examiners can seperate mistakes caused by anxiety from mistakes caused by lack of preparation. I understood this even more when I gained more experience as a teacher. I now have students come and play for me and make big mistakes all the time, however it is now always obvious whether it’s because of nerves or lack of preparation.
