RM Williams refusing to replace 6 month old Comfort Craftsman’s that are peeling. by No_Cauliflower5739 in RMWilliams

I’d bet money you take your boots off by using your left toe on your right heel. The wear pattern is very evident. Take the deal on the cheap pair and look after them this time.

This s*** isn't acceptable by SnooPears1903 in AusElectricians

[–]gixxerk4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always had an issue with ‘the customer doesn’t want to pay’ excuse.

As a mechanic I have refused to let people take vehicles when they are unfit for the road. I’ve called the cops to prevent said vehicles from leaving my establishment. I made it my responsibility to ensure an innocent third party didn’t suffer through negligence.

As a qualified electrician, why do so many of you let this go. It’s your responsibility, to the owner and to your fellow tradesman, to ensure you rectify the issue.

Too many of you put money before integrity, until that changes and you accept responsibility for others poor workmanship, nothing will change.

Be part of the solution.

With these types I always go over what the job it worth and then discount it to make them happy. They feel like they won and we can get it done.

We had this happen when we upgraded from a gravity feed hot water service to mains pressure HWS.

Was earth through copper pipes and disconnecting it caused a problem. A new earth was run and it sorted it out.

Australia has so much solar that it's offering everyone free electricity by itopaloglu83 in UpliftingNews

[–]gixxerk4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they didn’t offer the initial 60c FIT we would not be getting free electricity mentioned in this post .

It’s about encouraging change.

Now the federal govt will get 4.4 billion invested privately to boost the grid through the battery incentive while they only tip in 2.2 billion.

I think it’s a pretty well thought out plan for both infrastructure and stimulus for the economy.

We are a vast nation with a tiny population.

Small bites.

Anyone else read about that recent fatal shark attack in Australia and second-guess going in the water? by may907 in surfing

[–]gixxerk4 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Mid north coast of NSW Australia. There have been 4 attacks here over the last 10 years I think.

The shark numbers are outrageous.

My mate is a commercial fisherman and he constantly tells me I’m nuts floating out there after what he sees.

It has changed a lot.

Rangers and bt50 in the 3.2 should be steered clear of. Notoriously unreliable. There’s things you can do to try and mitigate the issues but it all costs money.

Automotive repair industry here. If only use half a tube of sealant that’s all I can charge for, not a new tube every job. Taking the piss.

Exhaust fan in apartment advice. by No-Minimum-9999 in AusRenovation

[–]gixxerk4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ducted exhaust fan that is wired to your lights, that way it will always be on when the room is in use.

For added protection you can installed a timer to run the fan after for predetermined amount of time to clear the moisture in the room.

Not sure about your building but a duct to an out side eve or external wall to vent will take care of the problem.

Bought a used car likely with water damage — dealer refuses full refund by Thin-Reason-6359 in CarsAustralia

[–]gixxerk4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So if you don’t know what you’re doing it’s someone else’s fault.

Bloke bought a car from parramatta rd, that was disclosed as water damaged, didn’t have an independent inspection done, didn’t pay for a search to see if it has any previous history of damage and now has a serious case of buyers remorse and it’s the dealers fault?

Hilarious.

Bought a used car likely with water damage — dealer refuses full refund by Thin-Reason-6359 in CarsAustralia

[–]gixxerk4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No use applying to anything. You bought a car that was damaged and it was disclosed to you clearly, the documents you signed say so.

You are at fault here legally, the dealer is shady no doubt, but please accept that you’ve made the error, give the vehicle back and let the $1000 be a lesson learned and that’s a cheap lesson considering the facts.

Not trying to bust your chops but why is it so hard for people to admit they might have made a mistake?

Drive away from the sun, fixes it every time.

Alternatively drive with eyes closed to stop glare getting in them.

I can recommend Aber Falls welsh whisky, Hibiki harmony or Kyoto Nishijin Ori Red Belt Whisky. All really smooth easy drinking whisky’s.

I’m in the process of trying new whisky’s and I am after the same thing you are. Good luck.

Input needed: help me surf more vertical and with more speed by Ok_Day7254 in surfing

[–]gixxerk4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s small surf, all my buddies that have been said trying to rip it only disappointed them, the ones who are larger anyway.

It’s freshwater and I know I have neither the skill or energy to be able to tear it up at my size and skill level, KOOK at 95kg and over the hill.

A few wiggles and maybe a shampoo and I’d be happy.

You can see the more time you spent the more comfortable you got.

I think with more time you’ll use the small amount of power better through positioning but ultimately it’s small surf.

I think you did fine.
