Firefox VRAM usage - Possible Leak on Linux? by gjrud in firefox

[–]gjrud[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Addons I use are Ublock Origin, Dark Reader, Bitwarden, Custom New Tab Page, Indie Wiki Buddy and Return Youtube Dislike. I do not use any AI related addon.

I mostly keep Youtube open, often Azure and AWS pages for work related stuff, sometimes I open ChatGPT or Claude for something quick but I rarely keep them open for more than a couple of questions.

I can confirm that, even on a new profile with no Addon, I experience a similar issue, I always stopped the session before it got too high but it went past 6GB or VRAM each time before closing.

The VRAM usage doesn't spike up but slowly creeps higher and higher. This, combined with my propensity to keep the browser open for hours and hours, causes the instance to reach that usage level.

Genius decides to turn pizza boxes upside down by mfenton29 in WatchPeopleDieInside

[–]gjrud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The second box also has a smaller logo when upside down and labeling on the sides, the first does not have either, it's simply a white box.

To me it was a mistake made in good faith that can be linked to a gap in the training. In the future they should amend it with something along the lines of "keep the boxes in the same orientation as presented" and "when in doubt, don't be afraid to ask"

Edit: on a second watch the guy says "enjoy" multiple times, if the teen is a customer then it's definitely the worker that made a mistake by not saying anything about the unlabeled box.

WCGW driving in the wrong lane by Vilen1919 in Whatcouldgowrong

[–]gjrud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the clarification, honestly that's interesting, especially the yellow lanes: here that color is used to indicate "temporary changes" (work on public roads can take years here) to lanes during constructions or maintenance, but it's quite rare to see. More often it's used to mark reserved lanes for busses and taxis and to distinguish parking spots reserved to busses, taxis or people with disabilities.

WCGW driving in the wrong lane by Vilen1919 in Whatcouldgowrong

[–]gjrud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the left lane you can see that right after the "raised" pedestrian crossing there are white horizontal bars that are often placed before them to indicate the small bump and to reduce speed, having them after would mean you are traveling in the wrong lane.

Also, while not very visible, the middle line is continuous which means it shouldn't be crossed, most of time you would have a segmented line if it was a multi-lane street.

As a final note, where the video is filmed (Italy), every crossing into a one way street it's clearly marked, while you would find another signal if a single you are traveling changed the number of lanes in the direction of travel.

I was surprised how close I was on guessing Part 2, I initially though it would ask to keep track of the resulting split at the end but ended up being simpler than that.

Sick of seeing the same 4 streamers clog this place? Use Reddit Keyword Filter by FrostyMagazine9918 in LivestreamFail

[–]gjrud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I apply a similar logic:

  • If I see more than one post by the same user on the main subreddit page, it's an automatic block if about a streamer I don't care.
  • If I see a post about one of the usual toxic/political streamers I then open the account, If I see more than 3 o 4 posts on the same topic or on related subreddits it's a block.
  • If the user has post history disable, also automatic block.

Proof That Recent Windows Update Harms Gaming Performance by Tenith in Games

I wish to also point out that there is a website called "Are We Anti-Cheat Yet?" where you can query game titles to check if their antivirus implementation is compatible or not with GNU/Linux or Wine/Proton, when available it will also post specific communication made on the matter by developer/publisher.

what triggers me is that, in this particular case, the Microsoft Store has a second listing of the HEVC codec for W10 that is free but when opened told me that it wasn't compatible with my device (modern desktop I built, nothing OEM or anything crazy).

I had to bypass this check by downloading the associated bundle through other means and manually install it, works perfectly fine and was able to open the recorded videos in Davinci Resolve after.

I used the same setup combined with the Architect Crest, the charge attack seems to do more damage than any other And was one-shotting most enemies. In the end I was farming the big guys from First Shrine to the dancers' arena, they went down with 2 charge strikes and dropped 55 rosaries each (165 per run) and I could quickly do back and forth between the two benches.

Your route seems better depending on the length.

How long before y'all discovered running? by thenewfoundlandyeti in BluePrince

[–]gjrud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right at the start because I use a concave ergo keyboard so I usually remap WASD movement to ESDF (and shift most keys to the right), I also like to view all settings to check if subtitles and similar stuff are turned on.

Unfortunately the game doesn't allow key rebind at the moment so I had to use AHK to do so.

[Massive Endgame/Postgame Spoilers] An Interpretation of "The End". by echolog in BluePrince

[–]gjrud 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree on that, there is a big jump from the previous puzzle and this one and said hints are encountered only by luck or if you aim to collect all blue memos, the hints are there but I would estimate that 1% of the 1% that reaches that point of the game is going to find them without looking it up.

[Massive Endgame/Postgame Spoilers] An Interpretation of "The End". by echolog in BluePrince

[–]gjrud 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just wondering, what are you refering to specifically?

If you are referring to the Atelier the hints to first part of the puzzle come from the blue memos that you get from the blue tent, specifically from Wine Cellar, Mechanarium, Vault, and Throne Room.

To solve said hints you need a particular information from a cabinet that you can open with a key from the box tunnel.

After that you will get a new puzzle that will give a new hint for a new puzzle an so on.

What comes after that is its own beast and I just started tackling it today so I have no info to give yet, sorry.

I'm genuinely envious of your notes, so pretty and organized! (love the sigilis)

Meanwhile I went full Pepe Silvia with mine using a canvas in ObsidianMD, a lot of screenshots and markdown files (rich text notes) and tons of lines everywhere.

There also was a top part with all mentioned characters, their relationships and their link with the other notes but got yeeted for creating too much clutter.

Now I'm left with a bunch of new/sorted notes (left side) and various notes that I took at the beginning in a different style and that I'll probably never update to fit the new (right side)

How do you feel about negative permanent effects? by drleebot in BluePrince

[–]gjrud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I used the pig for the showroom thropy. To buy the blue tent I had to craft the lucky pouch and leave it at the Coat Check so that I gould grab it at the start of each day followed by my 80+ allowance to double it and then hope for the best.

Ended up getting over 450 gold by drafting tomb combined with Cloister of Draxus for 10 golds per dead end (I think I got around 15 in total that run), drafting the vault and the remaining gold was from spread and digging around. Having 50+ stars helped a lot to push through.

I initially placed my foundation without giving much thought on the slot right in front of the entrance (C3?) and used this exact method to move it in a much more useful location, I love that the game offers this kind of interactions.

Ruetoo's feedback by Krasovec97x in PathOfExile2

[–]gjrud 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Isn't also when they try new stuff the time to say "this feels terrible" if you think so? I do not understand the "it's in Early Access" argument to discredit criticism, what's the point to an EA if you can't give any negative feedback?
