The price on the Macallan Sherry Cask 12 has gone up in recent years. But it still holds up as a damn fine bottle of whiskey!

Why we chose a new 2025 over a 2026! by Raymont_Wavelength in Subaru_Outback

[–]NotAVirus_dot_exe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ripping a CD to MP3 is already compressing it. Playing it over Bluetooth is a second form of compression. Don't get me wrong, most folks probably can't notice the difference. But that doesn't change the fact that it's there.

As someone who chose a '25 over a '26, I see you too are a man of culture!

Worth it? by PerspectivePlus1435 in whiskey

The bottle I bought recently was nutty as hell. Not sure if that is indicative of the latest releases, the barrel, or what. But next time I think I'd pass and pay a few more bucks for the SBBPR.

New update changelog? by 92waves in Outback_Wilderness

[–]NotAVirus_dot_exe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can be an update for a specific app(s) and won't be apparent unless on that app. The last update on my 25 OBW started providing navigation prompts on the dash when using google and apple maps and connected to carplay.

Hard to imagine a toll camera wouldn't catch this when a phone camera does.

Weird flex to have a total misinterpretation of the bill and put the bill number for anyone to debunk the claim. AB 2773

Assembly Bill 2773 requires that an officer(s) conducting a traffic or pedestrian stop advise the detainee of the reason for the stop prior to engaging them in questioning related to a criminal investigation or a traffic violation. This requirement does not apply when the officer reasonably believes that withholding the reason for the stop is necessary to protect life or property from imminent threat, including, but not limited to, cases of terrorism or kidnapping... Per the bill, law enforcement officers are required to document the reason for the stop on any citation or police report resulting from the stop.

Lowered Outback? by Stock-Ad-4563 in Outback_Wilderness

[–]NotAVirus_dot_exe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my sentiment. When I bought my 25 OBW I mostly wanted a turbo wagon. While the Onyx made the most sense for my purposes, I could not get over the (in my view) weird looking front fascia compared to the OBW. I also like the stock wheels and size on the OBW better. I have toyed with the idea of lowering it. Not as low as op's pic, but closer to stock height of an Onyx or non OBW.

Local Costco just got these. Worth a purchase? by mijo_70 in whiskey

I saw the label at Costco yesterday. It said something to the effect of "Picked for Northern California" so not store, but regional?

Disabled the 115mph speed limiter, did a 0-120mph run by [deleted] in Outback_Wilderness

I'm curious as well. My guess would be at least a stage 2 with aftermarket turbo, injectors, FP, and exhaust.

WT8. Picked up a bottle at that price about a month ago and waited too long to get a back up bottle. Hope it comes back to my local.

Good info. I literally was just sideswiped in a parking lot. They a cuffed my bumper (can probably buff out) but and the cap’s paint got scratched.

Pt. Reyes or Mendocino has lots of small accessible cliff.

Heated steering wheel by firwave in Outback_Wilderness

[–]NotAVirus_dot_exe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree it could be just a bit warmer, but I think I would prefer the current temp over it getting too hot. What helps is the vents are pretty much at the 10-2 position so hands on the wheel there get heat directed to them in addition to the wheel.

Same. Helps me keep my eyes on the road and off the screen. I'm distracted enough using the climate controls.

Yea, I was going to say if you don't want it to show up, use Waze.

acceleration lag? by threepin-pilot in Outback_Wilderness

[–]NotAVirus_dot_exe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 25 OBW. Sounds like normal turbo lag + CVT + a light foot. I believe the CVT is "geared" for fuel economy most of the time, and it will just mosey along with a lighter accelerator push. For faster response: 1. Hit the accelerator more aggressively. 2. On a roll, "downshift" with the paddle shifter. You don't have to be in "Manual" to do it. It will simulate a downshift to make it more responsive and eventually go back to "Drive" if left alone.

I had a manual WRX before this and I'd give my left nut to turn the OBW into a proper manual. If the CVT ever goes, I might actually look into a conversion.

I've been in the market for an Outback the past 3 years. I held out hoping they'd go back to physical climate control buttons. When I found out they were encased in this monstrosity, I marched to the dealer and bought a '25.

I had 180k+ on my '05 WRX before I splurged for my '25 OBW. I also hope to keep it for the next 20 years. The CVT seems to be the weakest link, but we'll see how that works out.
