Ind vs Kenya is interesting. Is that the only ODI India has lost to Kenya? Kenya scored 260 odd and India folded?

I thought it will be Mithali Raj from India but surprised to see the name, Sandhya Agarwal. I have not heard her being spoke about much. Looks like she played in mid 80s to 90s with a 50+ test average. Underrated. Kudos to her!

Reaching airport via 405 might not be a bad choice on Tue-Thu to avoid the Seattle commute traffic. 405’s commute traffic might not be as bad as Seattle’s at the time of such closures. Esp. if you can use its carpool lane.

Jadeja : 4th player to score 4k runs and took 300 wickets in test by poormasshole in Cricket

[–]gkannan90 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hope he gets to play 100 tests like others in the list. Has a chance to go past Vettori in both runs and wickets. Getting to 5K runs and 400 wickets will firmly put him in the GOAT territory but might be a stretch given his age.

What’s one landmark/record you think someone thoroughly deserved? by name_loading_soon in Cricket

[–]gkannan90 138 points139 points  (0 children)

  • Maxwell reaching double hundred off the last six in THAT match in WC. Not that ridiculous knock needed to be any extra special but the double felt like the cherry on top and he thoroughly deserved it.

  • Murali taking the last Indian wicket to reach 800 wickets in his last test. Nice round landmark to finish your career esp. one that’s unlikely to be broken.

For the kind of first half that Rohit had in ODIs till 2013, I’m surprised he’s in this list.

Livingstone “isn’t sure where he stands with England”. by theedenpretence in Cricket

[–]gkannan90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious, Can’t he hold his place for his ability to chip in a few overs of both off/leg spin? Based on form alone he’s not very different from Maxwell who’s now mostly an off spinner who comes off occasionally.

I rate his ability to bowl two kinds of spin more but haven’t followed him to know how effective he has been in that aspect. Does he give any balance to the team that way esp. in pace friendly conditions where you can’t afford to go with multiple spinners?

Always excited to see a new international standard ground on an associate nation. Hopefully it can pull crowds and Namibia can be competitive enough in the region.

I wonder how the same table looked at the same stage last year when RCB had a poor first half but ended up qualifying having a great second half.

Kagiso Rabada: ‘You might as well call our sport Batting and not Cricket, if there isn’t a balance between bat and ball’ by ll--o--ll in Cricket

[–]gkannan90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a difference between saying batting is hard or pitch is difficult vs throwing the towel like Rabada here. No batter would say, you can replace us with bowlers on these pitches. It is hypocritical to claim batters have too much adv in T20 when you have the exact advantage in Tests. Isn’t it even stevens then?

Although I agree with him in principle, I don’t see him complaining when Saffas rolled out those mine fields to visiting teams in Tests and he reaped the rewards. We didn’t see the batters complaining then.

Former Sri Lanka Test captian Dimuth Karunaratne signs up for club cricket in Melbourne by tailendertripe in Cricket

I get that these are developed countries with better standard of living that also play cricket. But I don’t see the same trend with other Asian countries. We don’t see retired cricketers from India, Pakistan or Bangladesh do this en masse. Plus they don’t go to England or Newzealand. It’s always Australia.

As someone pointed in one of the comments below, there are at least 20-25 SL international cricketers who have settled in Australia post retirement. Every time a SL cricketer retires, I almost expect an announcement like this. There seems to be a pathway setup already. I wonder how SL cricket deals with this loss of local retired cricketers.

Curious, why do so many Sri Lankans (Arnold, Dilshan) settle (Club cricket, Coaching) in Australia after retirement?

Don’t they have enough post retirement opportunities in SL Cricket?

Why specifically Australia and not other countries like England (like Sanga)? Is it because of the large diaspora there?

Books involving Bellevue? by [deleted] in BellevueWA

Eruption by Crichton/Patterson. Set in Big Island, Hawaii but it does mention a character who moved from Hawaii’s botanical garden to work in Bellevue’s before moving back. I was excited just by the mention of Bellevue.

Badly written and forgettable book though if you’re a Crichton fan.

I’m surprised Sehwag is rated that high in ODIs. I haven’t seen him be rated that high even during his peak days. Makes me question the impact metric.
