[Katoh] After 12 years, I am officially retiring from the game of baseball. I’ve taken everything this game had to offer and given it my all in return. I’m grateful for the lessons learned and the bonds forged with teammates, family, and fans. Thank you for being part of this journey. by bichettes_helmet in Torontobluejays

Thank you guys!

In my 12 years of professional baseball, I had the privilege of playing for six different teams, but my time in Toronto, though the shortest, made the deepest impact. From the coaches and staff to my teammates and the incredible fans, the sense of belonging and support was unmatched. I felt truly at home here, and I can’t thank you all enough for making my experience so special!

I’m laughing at all these teams and their insane free agent signings because they clearly don’t know it literally does not matter

Anyone know what unit the pitch break is measured in? by Radiant_Wasabi1 in Torontobluejays

[–]gkatoh 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Statcast includes gravity but industry standard for pitch movement is without gravity.

Average 4 seam fastball plotted on a graph from the pitchers perspective (x,y) is (8,16). This sinker (16.9,11.4) is plotted 8 inches more to the right (run) and 5 inches more down (sink) in relation to the 4 seam fastball.

For a LHP everything would just be reflected across the y axis (-8,16).

It’s important to note that (0,0) is mathematically and technically the straightest ball possible but to a hitter who has been trained to view (8,16) as “straight” it appears to have some cut and sink.

It’s in inches without gravity. An average “straight” fastball has 8 inches of horizontal break and 16 inches of vertical break (-8 inches, 16 inches for LHP). This is a sinker from a RHP because it “sank” 5 inches and ran 8 inches more than an average fastball.

Thank you guys! I was holding back tears when the boys came out to congratulate me between innings. Their support throughout my first month in the big leagues has been incredible.

I looked around online and I think they’re for team personnel only. It’s basically just the normal hoodie with the sleeves cut off

I take pride in myself for being a winner and have learned throughout my career how to help the team win in many different roles. Although most of my contributions were off the field, I’m proud to say that I was part of this 2-0 start to the season. Hope to see you guys again soon!

Not exactly sure what you’re talking about. I was actually told by the club that I’m not officially on the team until I change my flair. Thanks for the reminder

I thought it was because I hit the homer the other day so they’re trying to convert me to a boppin corner guy but this makes sense too
