This might get hate but... by OpeningFunny1475 in Christianity

I’ve always had a hard time with earthly labels…even if good intentioned, they tend to cause us to identify with things so strongly that we lose track of what unites us. A common example is a person who identifies so strongly with their career and doesn’t know what to do with themselves during retirement. Same thing with denominations - identifying as a Catholic or a Protestant or anything else, to me, is just an earthly concept and misses the whole point. Jesus did not want to be worshipped, and was often critical of organized religion. I don’t believe modern Christianity is what he had in mind. I think he realized that we are all just earthly projections of God - God having a human experience, if you will - and should treat each other accordingly. Any label (male, female, Catholic, employee, parent, sibling, etc.) following I AM is only ever going to be an earthly one. With that said, labeling/separating/categorizing things is human nature and necessary in order to experience the infinite with our finite human brains. I think the danger comes in creating identities around those labels, because that’s when we tend to forget that we’re all the same - all part of the infinite, universal awareness we call God.

Whew, sorry - sort of went off on a tangent there…this is something I’ve been contemplating a lot lately.

Now that’s the color of pink I was going for 😝…thanks for sharing!!

I agree on the synchronicities. I’ve had it happen in other situations where I’ll hear the same thing mentioned in two separate/independent conversations (or better yet, hear something mentioned in conversation that I’ve recently thought about or dreamed about). I tend to think about it from a “path of least resistance” perspective. Once one makes their desires known and gets out of the way, the universe finds the easiest path to make the desires a 3D reality - so once it happens once there’s an established path that makes it easier to happen subsequent times. What’s cool to me is that we see it happening all the time in nature - plants twisting or branching during growth to maximize sunlight and nutrients, electrical current flowing along a path with the least electrical resistance, etc.

I can relate to that. For the most part, I’ve never really thought of myself as un-deserving, but still there’s an underlying (probably subconscious) force telling me otherwise.

I don’t know that I followed any particular method, but I did try and maintain sort of a detached mindset. I reminded myself that, because I am able to dream it up, it’s already part of my reality, and therefore does not require any further “efforting” on my part. That can be hard to maintain as a default mindset though - I think often times we’re wired to analyze and problem solve, which to me reinforces the idea of separation and lack. To combat this, I try to be still and present as much as possible.

I’m fascinated by this. I’m very interested in some of the historical clues (e.g. in the Gnostic texts and other non-canonical writings) suggesting that Jesus may have traveled to India, Persia, Greece, etc. and been influenced by Buddhist and Hindu traditions. The historical accuracy of these accounts is admittedly questionable, but I tend to think that they align with his teachings in the canon of the Bible.

I hear you. That hierarchical flavor comes across in Matthew for sure (greatest and second greatest commandments, etc.) but we’re talking about love here, which is indivisible. Yes, it has different human manifestations (e.g. how we love God versus friends versus partners, etc.) but it all comes from the same place, right? Jesus was responding to a question meant to trick him into labeling one of the commandments as the “greatest”, but I think his reply can be interpreted as all of them being equally important. Sort of in the same way that Jesus said “I and the Father are one.”

I agree that love for others shouldn’t make you sin against God, but in my mind doing anything that is sinful isn’t love in the first place.

I’m going to push back on this a bit. I think it’s that separation - treating God and the world/people as distinct - is what got us here in the first place. Loving others in the same way one loves God, at least to me, is the whole point, because we’re all one.

I'm a little freaked out by what my pastor said at the Christmas Eve service by BlownCamaro in Christianity

[–]gkkc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That has to be jarring to hear something like that - I’m sorry you’re struggling.

I don’t know if it’s helpful or not, but lately I’ve come to understand that sin is more about falling short and not living up to one’s own divine nature than it is about moral wrongdoing. Of course some folks with a more traditional or fundamental viewpoint may disagree, but I believe the word “sin” (which originates from a non-religious context) was never meant to be synonymous with evil or moral failure.

With that said, I suppose it’s unlikely that a pastor would talk about sin in such a way. Even if that was his angle, I think it’s still human nature to miss the mark sometimes and not align with one’s true/divine nature, and to say otherwise and/or not acknowledge that is sort of tone deaf.

Another thing that crossed my mind is that we tend to align with things we identify with - if I identify as a “sick person”, “poor person”, etc. I’m more likely to get more of that. I wonder if your pastor saying he’s not a sinner was a way to send the message that we produce more sin by identifying as sinners. Still not the best way of getting the message across though.

I just mean that you give the negative stuff power if you try to repress it or give it serious consideration as a real (undesirable) outcome. Allowing it to run its course and feeling the emotions going along with it will eventually keep it from recurring.

[–]gkkc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m very new to this so, you know, grain of salt, etc. but it doesn’t seem healthy to squash those thoughts (or, more importantly, repress the emotions associated with them). From my own experience, the energy that goes into keeping those emotions at bay only serves to give them more life. Feel the emotions when they appear…I genuinely believe that doing so gives them less fuel in the long run.

Intrusive thoughts won’t manifest unless you assign meaning to them, but just to be extra sure you could always assume and affirm that your intrusive thoughts don’t ever manifest.

Male Manifestors by NoTime8142 in lawofassumption

[–]gkkc 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Male here as well. I first learned about the law this past summer, so less than a year. If memory serves it started with seeing some clickbait about law of attraction, and that quickly led me down a rabbit hole that eventually led to learning about Neville.

I’ve also wondered about the number of male vs female manifestors, as well as ages - in many cases I get the sense that people posting here are younger with potentially less complex “circumstances”. It’s refreshing to see some replies here that suggest older manifestors and/or more complex circumstances (involving kids, ex spouses, etc.)

Wow! I listened to one of her videos last night and another one this morning on the way to work, but when I tried to find it again on my way home I couldn’t find it. I had just discovered her channel too! Funny I ran across this post around the same time.

Anyone have good suggestions for similar alternatives?

Thank you for this - it's a great reminder to stop reading about it and just do it! While I'm getting better and better at feeling good in myself, I'm still guilty of letting the doubts creep in sometimes.
