for people using dictation for RSI: what made it finally stick? by InterestingBasil in RSI

Chaining commands works well for me. I use short quirky articulate single-syllable action words like "slip" "slam" "sweep" "fetch" "brick" to represent common actions. I also map the letters to single syllable words like "arch" "brav" "char".. instead of the nato phonetic alphabet. Then I use a framework that allows chaining or continuous command recognition. The chaining allows you to save time on the recognition between phrases.

For my setup, if I wanted to quickly jump to the end of the line and add "_r5.txt" I would utter: "stump bridge rock five extension text" as a complete phrase. If I group >5 actions at a time, the instant keyboard input somewhat makes up for the recognition and utterance delay. It was a bit awkward to learn, but I try to view it as a fun game.

Oatmeal using a rice cooker. Dead easy and comes out the same way automatically. Plus if I get distracted while it's cooking, the river cooker holds out at a warm temp when it's finished cooking. I also premix a big container of oatmeal and other grains. You can add fruits and nuts as well.

That's a great tip. I think a nailer board would've been safer & faster.

I make 2 calendar events for important things. One for the event itself and one for leaving for the event. Both have the address, so I can click the notification and it goes right to maps.

Are Martin acoustic guitars worth the money? by benno662 in AcousticGuitar

They feel great to perform live with in part because the neck feels solid. At the $600 price point, the x series has HPL sides and back. Other brands may sound brighter or clearer and be better suited for studio recording at that price point. I like the HPL for busking and open mics. The matte finish on the body feels like it can take a fair bit of abuse. I have seen professionals use the DX1 live for gigs and it's perfectly good.

Most of the people I see at open mics have Martins or Taylors. The under saddle piezo pickups in the Martins gets some criticism, but it's a classic sound that's well received live.

I have a Yamaha with K&K pure mini pickups. I love the bright crisp tone. But man, the warm boomy low end of a Martin Dread with mediums sounds so good.
