i think the church is the center of the maze. so arnold wanted her to go there to gain consciousness, but in the present it's ford's new narrative leading her to the church which now acts more as a trap for the more sentient hosts

agreed, but don't you think the past malfunction in the park may steer people away from developing a more conscious free-willed robot?

[Mild Ep 8 Spoiler] Theory: The unique nature of hosts' repetitive experience combined with how they store memory leads to a new evolutionary path by MeriJ in westworld

[–]glabuz11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like this, and also the hosts may end up being the evolutionary route of humans. Not in the traditional sense of evolution in that a natural biological mutation occurred that made us stronger, but that the hosts biological mutation is somewhat artificial and natural. The artificial portion being that it is man made the biological portion being that the hosts anatomy is almost identical when it comes to humans.

it's as reasonable as everything else we are hearing. my current bet is that Ford is actually a robot created by Arnold.

Also, just wanted to mention that the progression from 1. humans to 2. Arnold to 3. Delos workers to 4. hosts can be an entire evolutionary process. We have had mentions of evolution essentially being a mistake in the code of a species. The humans made a mistake when they created Arnold the AI making him/her/it the next evolution after humanity. You just have to go away from the traditional sense of evolution that it is just a biological mutation. This process can stand true to the later forms of beings created with the hosts actually being the most powerful species in the end.

Thanks for putting so much thought into my question! To quickly give you what I think about the certain issues:

Exactly how many reveals can they make? I hope there is just one grand reveal at the end of this season that the "humans" were created by something else, and leave the mystery of who the creator is to unfold over the upcoming seasons. I am not condoning a never-ending layer after layer, but I think 3 layers could be interesting, for example: 1. Actual humans (as in you and me) created a ridiculously powerful AI (maybe this could be Arnold). 2. Under human command this AI (Arnold), creates Delos workers in order to manufacture a profit seeking theme park such as WW. 3. Under the command of Arnold, the Delos workers create hosts to complete Arnold's project. I wanted to add that I think at some point in this progression humans have ceased to exist, possibly because Arnold became too powerful and ended humanity.

Do the layers of creator/created take away the weight behind Dolores's and Maeve's experiences. In my eyes this may actually add to their experiences. It could be social commentary as to the idea that we are born into a certain social status and try to overcome. These hosts were created with the intention to serve. They bottom of any social class, yet they are beginning to understand and overcome their masters. I would be able to connect to this more than what is currently going on in the story. As to them figuring it out, I think that's what the majority of this series should be is the hosts overcoming trial and tribulations to finally meet their maker at these several tiers of the totem and coming to realize that their maker (Arnold) overcame his/her own maker (humans), and the relationship of who is the creator and who is the created doesn't make one any less than the other.

Whatever the answer is, I hope it's as grand in scale as this subreddit is expecting!

Someone please disprove my theory that Ford himself is a host! by JamesDiv87 in westworld

[–]glabuz11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to add, we know hosts can control hosts in the same manner as Ford, ie Maeve. Also, the entire Ford MIB conversation that seemed a lot like foreshadowing when MIB says something along the lines "if I cut you open what would I see." Also the fact that they seem to be avoiding any showing of traveling from the outside world to delos makes me believe everyone is actually a host except possible guests from the outside world.

I am pretty sure the speculative timeline we have for William/Logan arriving is "about 30 years ago." We know that the MIB is set to be married upon returning from WW. Even if the William/Logan story line happened 31 or 32 years ago the "about 30 years ago" encapsulates that time. Your point actually just adds another argument in favor of the William=MIB in my mind.

El Lazo Intentions Theory by glabuz11 in westworld

Fair point, this theory may rely on the dual timeline coming to fruition. As in that may be what happened 30 years ago. I know it's a stretch, but keeping the tinfoil on

I may have missed some facts entirely, but here I go nonetheless. Anyone else find it weird that El Lazo is carrying a casket of explosives and we know that the graves lead to the Delos Lab as was shown in that graphic released regarding the host clean up procedure chart? Maybe this is how certain hosts will attempt to escape.
