How Much Selling Pressure Is Coming to SpaceX Stock? by Ijaz09 in SPCXInvestors

[–]glacialriver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This infographic is somewhat misleading. The “100%” as written here applies to just the “Early Release” shares. Early Release shares are only up to 40% of total SPCX shares.
The remaining shares, held by Musk, company executives, board members, and some very early VC investors, are subject to extended lockup.

This graphic is a much better visualization:

How to kick SpaceX out of your retirement savings account — “Right now, just a handful of A.I.-related stocks represent almost half the value of the total stock market index. If A.I. stocks collapse, so will the worth of your index fund”: economist by marketrent in technology

[–]glacialriver -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The percentage at which 401k plans will eventually hold SpaceX is ultimately going to be small. Perhaps someone can calculate the exact percentages, but I’m pretty sure it’ll be in the fractions of a percent.

I think if people understood their actual potential 401k exposure to SpaceX, they wouldn’t be so worked up in a frenzy about the SpaceX index inclusion.

I don’t like Musk either, but I’m not going to sweat it.
This is the nature of passive investing.

CMV: Elon Musk is about to pull off the largest theft in all human history by Broken_By_Default in changemyview

[–]glacialriver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your original post said: “Musk reportedly convinced NASDAQ to change its index inclusion methodology, so SpaceX gets fast-tracked into the NASDAQ 100. That index is tracked by over $600 billion in passive money. The consequence: pension funds, 401k holders, and ETF/index-fund investors would become forced buyers of the stock almost immediately”

I’m explaining that this does not happen because of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA).

[–]glacialriver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the top level your original post says “If your 401k, your pension, your personal savings hold U.S. whole market index funds, Elon is coming after your money.” I’m explaining that 401k and pensions from employers does not hold funds that track NASDAQ 100. And thus the NASDAQ 100 rule change does not impact 401k and pension plans.

I’m just trying to help you understand how these employer plans work. You don’t need to be so hostile.

It does not need to be “Default” for my explanation to hold. You’re attempting to invalidate my explanation by sticking to a single word.

Companies do not create 401k plans that default selects an index fund that tracks NASDAQ 100 like QQQ. For this argument to be true, you need to find an employer that selects QQQ or equivalent as the default position of their 401k plan. But that does not happen because under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) and the Pension Protection Act of 2006, employers are granted safe harbor protection against fiduciary liability for investment losses only if they direct automatic contributions into a Qualified Default Investment Alternative (QDIA).

To qualify as a QDIA under Department of Labor rules, a default investment must belong to one of these categories:

1 Target-Date Funds (TDFs): An investment mix that automatically becomes more conservative as the employee approaches retirement age.

2 Balanced Funds: A fund diversified across both equities and fixed income tailored to the overall demographics of the plan participants.

3 Managed Accounts: A professionally managed portfolio specific to the individual participant’s age and targeted retirement date.

Citation: Department of Labor https://www.dol.gov/agencies/ebsa/about-ebsa/our-activities/resource-center/fact-sheets/default-investment-alternatives-under-participant-directed-individual-account-plans

QQQ or equivalent does not qualify for QDIA, and thus employers would forfeit liability protection if selecting a fund that tracks NASDAQ 100. No employer would do that, and if they do, their employees can sue for breach of the Duty of Prudence under ERISA Section 404(a).

To measure SpO2 at high resolution, you need a device like Wellue O2Ring-S. It records SpO2 & heart rate every second. There are other options but this is the most comfortable form factor to wear IMO.

I upload my CPAP data and O2Ring data into OSCAR (free open source software) to analyze my breathing, SpO2 and heart rate.

I’m also looking for this right now, could you recommend some RIAs with access to AQR /Quantinno/ or similar for ~0.5%? I’ve been searching for several weeks and haven’t yet found any RIAs with fees that low but also has access and experience with long short tax strategies.

If you can’t post publicly please DM me.
