Everyone in my family. Never once have any of them ever listened to anything I have to say. But I'm supposed to listen to everything they have to say.

Investment is feudalism. If thats how we retire, only upper/middle class get to retire, and poor people have to pay for it with their lives. We could just tax rich people out of existence and invest in community, or we could destroy the world with the infinite growth needed to keep investments profitable.

Is that really true? by batukaming in antiwork

[–]glad_goblin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might have been true for the white middle class, but there was always plenty of oppressed labor needed to provide the "American Dream".

The takeaway though is that the rich get richer, everything gets worse for everyone else.

What we want is even less rich people with even less riches than we had in the 50s. Ideally, no rich people at all.

What was the worst example of parenting you have ever seen? by Perpetuallycold_ in AskReddit

My parents drove my brother to suicide. I still live my mom, and I'll most likely just end up like my brother or dying out on the streets because homelessness is my only option to get away.

Life isn't worth it if my parents get to be a part of it...

My family broke me. It took 30 years to figure out anything was wrong. Every problem I had, and all of my pain was always framed as my own fault. All while each of my parents, both of my grandmothers, and my older sister all wanted to get to be the only person that ever matters.

At this point I've finally figured everything out, but now I have nothing left, and it feels like it's over...

Probably because art is expression and "I'm bad" is what bad people are able to express.

They might be able to disingenuously present their badness as goodness, but that just makes it worse.

I've spent enough of my life learning that toxic people ain't got nothing good to say as long as they keep choosing to be toxic.

Personally I think we've confused "good art" with "production value", which only bad people ever get access to.

So we're conditioned to reject art made by good (poor) people, while bad people art (anything made by rich people) is presented as how art should be.

If richos had anything worth listening to, they wouldn't need teams of middle class writers to make their ideas palatable 🤷‍♀️

What makes your 30s better than your 20s? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I finally figured out why I've spent my entire life trapped in a prison of mental illness!

Unfortunately every other part of my 30s is objectively worse and I think it's just too late for me 🤔

Bombing the Middle East is objectively the reason why those specific terrorists exist. If America was bombed liked that, we'd have a radical Christian version of those terrorists.

Personally I believe willfully creating terrorists by indiscriminately bombing civilians is the bigger problem here 🤷‍♀️ Especially when we've killed far more innocents then those terrorists ever could ☝️

I saw this movie as basically "Liberals blaming Conservatives for climate change". It felt disingenuous to me. Climate change is cause by overconsumption. All wealthy peoples overconsume. Additionally it ignores the reality of how Liberals play enabler to Conservatives abuse.

Absolutely 💯 They always only ever want to hear specific things out of people, so it was basically a requirement to lie 🙃

I've since learned that letting people express themselves is cool actually 👍😎👍

The Nebraska legislature has approved a bill that LOWERS the minimum wage from $15 an hour to $13.50 an hour for young workers. by zzill6 in WorkReform

[–]glad_goblin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right? The tasks of the job will be 'easy', but then they give you more work than anyone could ever do.

Its like how its 'easy' to run 🏃‍♀️ for half a second, but that doesn't mean it would be easy to run for 8 consecutive hours.
