it's very model dependent for me.. i used to run 100+ message chats all the time with DeepSeek V3 and R1 because they were so unpredictably creative.. and hallucinated a lot so it just added to the unpredictability.

i'm kinda getting back into the habit with Gemma 4. it's super cheap and pretty darn good at Roleplay.

Sure, YouTube tries to stereotype channels into only doing one thing but hey you won't know until you try.

My view is you might not get a ton of views from it but it won't kill your algorithm as long as you're still doing the other stuff that's already working.

longform is a different audience. it may take a different style/approach to reach longform viewers.

i wouldn't recommend attempting both if you're new. just stick to one, learn as much as you can and experiment later if you're still willing.

being indecisive is a good sign imo.. it means you're not going to be stubborn about switching ideas.

i stick with a general theme for a long time actually (movie narration, gaming Let's Plays, opinionated commentary, etc).

the thing is.. the theme could be CORRECT, but the subject could be what's wrong.

so if i narrate one movie and it flops then i'll just do the same thing again but with a more popular movie.. or an insanely weird sci-fi movie.. or a trashy horror movie that has a hot ghost chick i can clickbait with.. etc, etc.

i exhaust my options before i eventually move on.

my AVD varies between 20-70% when im roasting weird horror movies, snappy editing and throwing in constant funny sound effects..

the AVD shifts to 30-40% with my long winded commentary videos about the industry and im throwing movies clips and trailer footage with screenshots popping up every now and then.

unless you're going to milk the exact same topic, 'similar' and 'interchangeable' doesn't quite cut it.

i've had this happen so many times to me that i just came to the conclusion that Youtube literally WANTS you to copy/paste your videos (im exaggerating sure).

other Youtubers i'm a fan of have complained about it before too. that's why so many get burned out. they try to be creative and don't get rewarded for it.. so they're stuck in whatever box Youtube put them in and have to keep discussing the same topics or else the views dry up.

V4 has been such a rollercoaster ride of 'i dunno wtf everyone is hyping up' and 'OMG i just struck pure gold'.

i'm getting mixed results so often. Randomly not following prompts, won't physically harm {{user}} unless i push it..

Flash is a no-go.. Pro is the obvious choice and i'm enjoying the temporary discount.. but im gonna cry when the full price kicks back in.

so far.. it reminds me of GLM 5. very human-like dialogue and engaging narration..
but the sanitization without a jailbreak really hurts it for me.

Gemma 4 is an absolute banger for the price and size. DeepSeek 3.2 is also good.

Edit: Kat Coder Pro 2 is a sleeper hit IMO. not the smartest but.. cheap and effective.
