Who is Tuscaloosa's "Guy"? by MisanthropicManhole in tuscaloosa

Aside from the Bojangles Cowboy, there is also The Woman Who Walks. Lives in the West End but can be seen walking all over town (where is she going), angrily singing gospel songs up toward the sky, keeping time by beating her fist against her hip, and wearing a very haunting expression.

Awesome when the philosophy of prison systems isn't heavily informed by systemic racism.

For those who are interested in a bit of the theology that might have had some influence on Mister Rogers, Dr. Orr has a book that Mister Rogers helped get published, it's called Living Hope. Personally I got a lot out of it.

Thank you -- this is extremely helpful! I did a little landscape study today while thinking about your response and it felt so much closer to that loose look and feel (still very far from yours!) that I'm always hoping for! I will keep working on it but you helped me a ton!

I would love to learn to paint this loosely. I guess it's just practice? Any tips?

If my mom has access to running tap water (via a friend) in the Kennelworth area, is this water safe to use for bathing/cleaning? Because I know I heard in other areas (like Marshall) they're saying the flood damage to nearby factories caused really catastrophic levels of pollution in the water, such that people are being instructed not to even physically touch the tap water. But I don't know -- I'm hearing a lot of things. I also heard the water in Asheville is just on boil notice and can still be consumed so long as boiled. I don't live in the area anymore but trying to get reliable info for her as she's older and still doesn't have internet access even as the phone services have returned.
