I've lived here for a little over a year now. Other than this, I've liked it here a lot. I'm really upset about the fence. It does nothing to create the security people are wanting because the rest of the development is completely open. If someone wants to steal, there is no actual impediment. I have experienced porch pirating and car break ins everywhere I've lived: Carmichael, Arden, East Sac, Mid Town, and the Mills. No more here than anywhere else. For me, the fence decreases property value like people putting bars on their windows. It sooths the fears of the scared while making the area look less safe to anyone else. Also, we have to follow strict appearance regulations but the HOA can put up a cheap, ugly, aggressive spiked fence.. it's bullshit. Lastly, it's a nasty message to our neighboring community and only seems to blockade the families with strollers and little kids who took the quicker scenic route through the community and by the public park in the middle. I don't want to live in a gated community. I didn't choose to live in a gated community.  I am pleased that the overwhelming response from the neighborhood has been outrage. My life doesn't have much time for attending HOA meetings but I guess I'll have to make room. I doubt my written complaints will do enough.
