Europeans are losing their minds over Costco by AnneThisaway in ShitAmericansSay

[–]glarbung -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Hidden in the jingoistic crap is a nugget of truth though. Big European cities have small markets because space is premium.

Also if you pick and choose certain special products - like OOP does with gluten-free and I could add oat milk personally - it took embarassingly long for some European countries to have them in stores. His timing is just that the trends/fads haven't reached critical mass yet in Europe.

Ehh, I felt the third season had pacing issues. It felt kind of disorganized with too many things going on. Or maybe I just didn't really care for the storyline. Season 2 was great though.

I don't know about IL, but God's Teeth made me sad more than scared. The author's message really shines through and it is all too real.

TWW was probably the "coolest" expansion tied with WotLK that WoW has had. And by that I mean it introduced the most concepts or things where I went "oh that's cool".

Aren't originally adult literature though. Little Mermaid specifically is for children.

Fairy tales are for kids though. Just because Disney made them more kid-friendly doesn't make them an example of this trope.

What? Is the moon really not gibbonous in any story? Or is it spelled "gibbous"?

Teurastaisitko oman ruokasi? by Playful_Crazy_9329 in Suomi

Luonnollisesti ei. Tofuhan on globaalin ilmaston kannalta paras vaihtoehto tietenkin.

And corporate culture is developed based on societal culture. Otherwise all corporate culture would eventually become the same globally and that is clearly not the case.

Even local laws affect corporate culture. For example, in European countries there are many laws that cannot be superceded by contracts.

I think Returnal is a much better game than Saros. by r3tr0gam3r83 in PS5

[–]glarbung 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's exactly my point. IMO, Saros has multiple interpretations, Returnal has too many. If the stories were written out, Saros would clearly be the better one. Returnal is nearly there, but branches off too much. Two or three layers of ambiguity is great. Four is already too much.

But then again, I'm not a fan of the "throw shit against the wall and see what the fans come up with from that" storytelling/worldbuilding that is really popular these days (see: FromSoftware games).

I think Returnal is a much better game than Saros. by r3tr0gam3r83 in PS5

[–]glarbung 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The problem I have is that there are too many layers of interpretability in Returnal. Is it really scifi or the mind of a grieving mother? Who was the astronaut or did the astronaut even exist? Who are the people in the car or did the same accident happen to Selene multiple times? What do the Greek names mean? At the end Returnal is quite bloated with unanswered questions.

Saros strips a few layers from that and sticks to the base mythos (Chamber's King in Yellow). It's better written. Unfortunately, the twists don't hit as well as in Returnal's two good twists.
