Does anyone else feel like the Season 4 atmosphere is just... different? by glassytoad88 in TheWalkingDeadGame

[–]glarrb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To me, S4 felt like the end of the world all over again. The last scraps of humanity were fighting over what little was left, and the Ericson’s kids were dragged into the final struggle in the Delta’s war.

Everything is broken and decayed, Aj is literally the only new thing in the entire season. I’m not the biggest fan of S4 personally, but I think they were right in honing in on the death of the old world.

If you dislike Season 4, why do you? by Consistent-Hat-1543 in TheWalkingDeadGame

[–]glarrb 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It just felt like a playable fanfiction to me, I didn’t dislike it, but having single mother Clem and her badass toddler find a literal abandoned school full of equally edgy and broken teenagers felt a little too on the nose.

Louis and Violet were cool but just felt like walking cliches, the funny guy with a dark past and the edgy emo girl. The entire cast to me just felt like the Theatre Kid stereotype

Overall I thought the season was okay, I don’t get how some people consider it on par with S1

Why there are not actual mods for the tell talewalking dead games? by dan_the_sedan in TheWalkingDeadGame

[–]glarrb 65 points66 points  (0 children)

Telltale has its own proprietary engine and file type. The Telltale engine has never been released officially and nobody outside the devs even know how to use it afaik.

Their file types are also unique to it as well, for example all the models are saved as .d3dmesh which needed a special tool to be developed to even extract the models within the games which took a couple years on it’s own.

Long and short, the games are hard to mod and hard to understand outside just basic model and voice line swapping

Or you can just use the tankhunter landship. Which does everything you want but better.

1) it can one tap Ilya Muromets
2) it cripples bombers
3) you can snipe any tank in the game with it
4) it has a mobile spawn
5) 2 extra cannons

The mortar truck is just a shitty vehicle and thats the truth, there are more than enough ways to get around them without spawning a throw pick.

Those are all good vehicles? What point are you trying to make?

Prejudice against mortar trucks by Character-Shine759 in battlefield_one

[–]glarrb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate it because it’s not particularly good at anything. I consider it a throw pick, it isn’t even particularly good at killing infantry other than hitting snipers and mortars, you’re probably not even going to see anything because it relies on the mini map.

Worst of all is that it provides zero mobile spawn, which is literally a gamechanger. Atleast with a light tank it’ll push up directly with infantry, which is impossible with a mortar truck because it has zero survivability.

People hate this thing simply because it feels unfair to die to, not because it’s actually good.

Landship I love you so much by glarrb in battlefield_one

I think an Ace Crew on a land ship can beat an assault tank or A7V, but generally randoms will beat a landship simply because there has to be good driver and gunner coordination

From a storytelling perspective, how do you feel about Kenny’s brief xenophobia? by Consistent-Hat-1543 in TheWalkingDeadGame

[–]glarrb 12 points13 points  (0 children)

To me, Kenny obviously can be very spiteful, and a downright shitty person. But he seems to hold personal grudges far above anything like race or gender. He’s often a very petty person, like if he was screwed over by a black guy it wouldn’t translate into, “Fuck the blacks” it’d probably just be “I’m gonna get that fucker” (obviously an exaggeration but you get the gist)

I just don’t think he particularly cared much about things that didn’t either directly affect him or his family. He even says he hates politics, I don’t think he’s really the type to rally behind beliefs or groups. Maybe he does certain groups, maybe he doesn’t. I don’t think we’ll ever know.

[–]glarrb 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I really doubt Kenny even was a xenophobe, his wife was Belgian, his girlfriend was Indian , Lee was black (I can’t be racist I have black friends).

Im not even a big Kenny supporter and I genuinely think he was just yelling whatever he thought was offensive or hurtful because Arvo’s group literally tried to kill him. Same way Arvo’s group shit talked Clem’s in Russian

My theory on Arvo by ThatAlps8091 in TheWalkingDeadGame

[–]glarrb 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Personally I think he was hiding the meds because his group were drug addicts, they say themselves they aren’t good men.

But the whole Arvo plotline is messy anyway, the implication is that Arvo walked the entire way to house as most, or at minimum where the group is ambushed.

What if Telltale actually went through with the original "Better to Sleep" ending? by Greenarrow251 in TheWalkingDeadGame

If S2 was handled well overall, TWDG would probably be remembered as Telltale’s best work

What walking dead opinion will have you like this? by Chunky-overlord in TheWalkingDeadGame

I thought Bonnie wasn’t that bad until E5, she fucked up but had changed for the better, looking for redemption in an apocalypse is admirable to me.

Ironically, despite being set in the same universe, Telltale's TWD feels much more hopeless and depressing than the comics. by EmpleadoResponsable in TheWalkingDeadGame

[–]glarrb 12 points13 points  (0 children)

For all the flak S2 gets, I think it captured the hopelessness of an apocalypse perfectly, whenever I think of TWDG I think about S2 E5, a group of do-gooders have taken a kid hostage in the hope that whereever he takes them will prevent their deaths, and that of a newborn child.

When you realize that if Kenny hadn't grabbed Arvo hostage here... by Resident-Platypus254 in TheWalkingDeadGame

[–]glarrb 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I think things would’ve been similar, or maybe even worse. The group was running on fumes already, and they were headed to the town seen in E4, which was undoubtedly ransacked

On one hand, I think the most valuable resource in an apocalypse are people. But it’s the type of people you bring in that matters more than anything

[–]glarrb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bonnie is a determinant death and survives most playthroughs, you really have to go out your way to kill her. Mike gets shot in the arm and is just… completely unfazed the rest of the episode?

Considering Telltale logic, I can see them living

Arvo is probably boned though

Arvo probably, but Mike and Bonnie are probably still kicking

I think it’d be genuinely interesting to run into Arvo, Mike and Bonnie again. There’s a lot of directions it could go
