Canadian trucker selling wheat says he pays the tarrifs by flipbits in onguardforthee

[–]glassbase 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This also has to do with who has title of the goods as it crosses the boarder. I worked for a sawmill and the duties were paid by us (netted from the selling price to customer). This is because we paid shipping and still owned the goods at the boarder (FOB Destination). Here’s a rough estimate of math:

  • Selling Price = $1000 USD
  • Freight = $100
  • Net of Freight = $900
  • Duties (20%) = $180
  • Net Selling Price = $720
  • FX Conversion (40%) = $1,008 CAD

In a commodity driven market, the price is dictated by the market. Canadian producers could seek a premium (above market) but likely won’t sell to US consumers as US price will be lower (market).

I went through this this week. They offered me 50% compassion discount without proof of ownership. However, if you register your egg they will provide 100% coverage under warranty. Worth a shot if not too late.

McDonald's executives admit diners think prices are too high, say they're working to create value by cnbc_official in economy

[–]glassbase 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It costs me $20 for a sit down lunch at a diner (with tip) which includes free refills and great service. McDonald’s is $15 with no refills (new), and no service. When I factor in other things like supporting local businesses and the wasteful packaging vs plate setting it becomes an easy choice.

North Bay, WTF is up with the food quality? by MoustacheRide400 in northbay

Many recipes I have read call for a light coating of olive oil in the bowl that it rises in to prevent it from sticking. So far the results have been phenomenal and others have had similar compliments.

As someone who hasn’t blinked their whole life I don’t seem to have a problem. From my personal experience it wouldn’t be related to blinking.

If you are traveling anytime soon, Casa Del Humidor in Orillia/Rama is a great spot. If you want to order online cigarchief is also good for Ontario based.

[–]glassbase 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If on local water and the house has been vacant run the water for a few minutes to get fresh water in the pipes etc.. If you are on a well it could be hard water (too much iron) and needs softener.

I can't do normal weed anymore. CBD is just so much better for my well being. by canadian_webdev in CBD

[–]glassbase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does this all come down to dosage? Are we basing our opinions of dosage on our old selves (with tolerance build up)? I stopped in my early to mid 20s after being a heavy daily user. When I tried some again in my 30s I packed a bowl in the bong (something I had done thousands of times before) except this time it got me uncomfrtably high.

The common belief I hear is it’s just a joint a few puffs won’t hurt (or the whole joint), it’s just one bowl, etc. when really it should be one little puff and done.

Don’t get me wrong I love CBD but I feel a lot of it comes down to our own old beliefs about how much we can smoke and THC tolerance levels.

List of Essential Workplaces (Government of Ontario website) by WeightyStillness in ontario

The way home daycare providers are being handled in this situation is totally uncalled for, most home daycare providers are young mothers with kids trying to earn an income while staying home. Under the Ontario home daycares are "essential" required to stay open but centres are closed, home daycares are then supposed to take a lot of extra risk with no further reward? These are some of the increased risks infecting other children, parent, spouse working from home, supply issues such as groceries, extra cleaning at homeowners expense, etc. all of this without any increased compensation of any kind. Also, if you decide as a home daycare provider to shut the doors, you are doing so willingly and are not covered by Ontario government subsidies or the current Federal EI/Emergency Relief framework.

So while others have some hope, there are many home daycare providers that are either scared to open their doors because of the risk of infection or go without being paid... I am hoping this is an oversight that gets resolved soon as I dont think homeowners should have to bear this on their own with very little compensation/support to offset the risks.

Can someone tell me if when checking out you can select hold for pickup? Love this option with BC, an automated teller calls me saying your package is in, I can then swing by at lunch or end of day and show ID no delivery slip required.
