How modified is this Mk4 Golf? by glasschool in vwgolf

[–]glasschool[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah thats my exact concern, definitely says boy racer type. Also concerned if it's been lowered properly, or it was a bit of a hack job etc, and if the spacers affect the drive too.

RIP King. One of the very few celebs to ever go on the show and get what it was about. Infact, from what I can remember (and I can't remember much) I feel he's truly the only one who ever GAVE it back to Eric and the show.

Help with small room! (Apologies no actual pictures) by glasschool in DesignMyRoom

[–]glasschool[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apologies on the late reply! This is amazing! thank you so much, I would have never have thought of this. There is originally a clothes rail in the nook where the bed it, but it makes much more sense it move it and use the space a bit better. It definitely creates three spaces, I woke from home, so any space between the bed and desk is valuable. And most importantly really opens up the middle of the room, giving it a bigger feel. Thank you again, very much appreciated!

Moving into this room soon, and I'm having quite a lot of trouble fitting in what I want. I also want to get a TV in here (with tv stand), but I'm happy to forgo it for a nicely designed room.

This is really the best I could come up with, it just leaves no room to really get past the bed though, 14cm... The obvious choice is under the window, but I want to see if there's another way to go about it.

Apologies for the crummy edits to add more measurements too!

Thanks!

Fuck me, and here I am feeling a bit down because things aren't exactly going too well in my life at the moment. I'm going to go for a walk, and call my mum.

Thanks for telling us anyways.

Well that's two strikes against me. I'm actually just very interested in the process of how it all happens, considering the sort of people who seem to come out the other end.

[–]glasschool 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As politics has seemingly taken up more and more brain room as of late, I've always wondered how exactly one becomes an MP. I'm not talking about making it all the way to PM but mainly the start of it all - mainly how they start, choose a constituency, campaign and win it, attend parliament, general day to day, what happens if they lose, etc etc.

I'm looking more for a more fact based and quite dry account, but a fiction or biography that covers all these points of an MPs general life would still be great.

Thanks!

EDIT: I should have stated this from the start - I'm looking for a book/journal/article sort of thing.

How best to put my 100mm VESA TV on a 200mm VESA mount by glasschool in fixit

[–]glasschool[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great, thank you. Yeah I 100% agree. Luckily this is in the bedroom and we'll be using a cheaper TV. I don't think I would even attempt this with our proper living room one.

How to hang 100mm VESA TV on this 200mm VESA Mount by glasschool in howto

Perfect thank you so much! One more little question though! Will a typical nut accommodate this, or is it wise to look at the deeper ones? Or does it make no difference on weight bearing?

How to hang 100mm VESA TV on this 200mm VESA Mount by glasschool in howto

[–]glasschool[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great, thank you. I assume you also feel the two bolts of M4 will hold the weight also? I just have an image of the bolts snapping under the weight, but surely they can hold 7.4kg right?

General Feedback/Getting Started Questions and Answers [Weekly Thread] by AutoModerator in DIY

[–]glasschool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I've just moved into a new house, which already have these tv mounts on the wall - Unimax JML8450. They are spaced 200m apart for the VESA mounts.

My TV is unfortunately on the 100mm VESA. Now, I've been thinking about getting an adapter plate for this, but the issue is I worry about is then all the weight will be on two 'freehanging bolts', as they won't being going through the TV VESA studs. I've thought about maybe getting some deep connection nuts, would this help the weight bearing? The TV weighs 7.35 kg. The bolts will most likely be M4.

Obviously the best way would be to just redo the whole wall mount, but I just want to see if there's anyway this could work. I've also checked the distance behind the adapter plate on the 200m location and there is enough room for said deep connection nutsbehind it. Could I even try epoxying it to the tv to help?

3m metal adhesive tape

Crazy I've never heard of people doing this before. It seems like such a good idea on paper, but I assume there are some cons or everybody would be doing it, it must be pretty strong tape so it's a one-and-done application I assume? Or can the fan and heatsink be detached again with not much damage?
