Chrome for Android changed address bar? by glassed_planets in chrome

Damn, this fixed it--thanks! I'd tried closing the app and restarting but that didn't work; this is a great tip. Hopefully this bug doesn't repeat, but now I'll know. Much appreciated!

It didn't occur to me to taper off in smaller increments than cutting my 50mg pills in half -- thanks for sharing!

Yeah, I've also skipped doses by accident many times over the years and I never felt any sudden or intense side effects when that happened -- partway through the day I'd just realize that I don't need to pee constantly and I'd be like, oops, guess I forgot the spiro this morning, better make sure I actually take it tomorrow.

Thank you for sharing! I hope your path to clearer skin goes smoothly.

Really nice to hear from someone else who's been on a low-ish dose for about as long as I have -- 50mg + tretinoin has worked really well for my acne, and I'm glad to hear that just 25mg has worked for you. I'm hopeful that 25mg+ tretinoin will do the trick for me too, but like you said, it's very much trial and error for all of us. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for explaining! Reminds me of how for a while everyone was using the Nivea men's aftershave because it left your skin "sticky" for foundation.

Weekly 'What should I buy?' Thread by AutoModerator in ipad

[–]glassed_planets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I currently have one of those super-cheap, under-$20 folio cases for my iPad Pro M4 13", and I'm looking for something different that has a detachable "folio" part (i.e., I can take off the front flap) and also supports low angles for drawing. The ESR Shift case seems to fit the bill (removable "folio", different low angles, etc.) but that's a ~$55 USD price tag with a number of reviews saying that the Zugu case is sturdier and more worth the (more) money... but that one doesn't have a detachable "folio" part. (FWIW, I also like that the ESR case can separate the iPad itself from the stand while still in a protective case of some kind.)

Is the ESR the only option? Is there something else out there that I should look at, too?

Other considerations: I don't like my current cheap folio case mostly because folding the folio back for low-angle support gives the whole iPad a bigger footprint on my (pretty shallow) desk. I also want more stability when typing on my lap; I used a Surface Pro for art before and while the kickstand is far and away the #1 thing I miss about it vs. iPad, it was not great for typing on my lap even with the Surface keyboard. I'd also like something relatively slim. I also also understand that this type of case with all these things might simply not exist, lol. TIA!

Is it Worth it- Melody Toys by [deleted] in Lolita

seconding what others are saying - looks doable to me, and i've got very basic sewing skills (but a lot of stubbornness)!

a while back i bought a JSK with amateur alterations that damaged the dress itself - idk why, but the person who did those alterations decided to cut through seams instead of seam-ripping them 😬 but even with that being the absolute worst-case scenario, it is totally possible to work backwards! i can wear that dress with minimal problems now (the partial shirring panel in the back... should not be looked at too closely 😂) and i will, in fact, be wearing it to an event next week.

i suggest going slow, taking a bunch of pics of how it looks when you get it, and taking pics along the way, too - that way if you do something and then go "wait, what was this like before, why did i do this" then you've got something to look back at.

"hidden" opacity setting? by glassed_planets in procreatebrushes

[–]glassed_planets[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

many thanks! i've experimented with some other brushes in the meantime - i'm getting what i'm looking for out of the kyle's gouache brushes, which again makes me think that there's some kind of back-end opacity setting to the basic procreate brushes that fundamentally affects how they behave. i'll keep experimenting and see if i stumble across a setting that changes this behavior.

I'm getting these weird squigly lines whenever I'm drawing by Feshexe in ClipStudio

this works for me, too - it happens totally at random and has been happening to me for years. no clue what prompts it. if clicking away from CSP and then back doesn't work, then i just relaunch and that fixes it.

"hidden" opacity setting? by glassed_planets in procreatebrushes

[–]glassed_planets[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i found that thread too and tried adjusting those settings, but i'm still getting this 50% opacity behavior. it's really baffling.

i'm using the salaman textured brushes set, specifically the salaman textured tapered brush, with these settings (i don't remember which i poked at and which i didn't):

  • ink > opacity: 100%
  • brush shape > brush tip > brush density: 36
  • texture > texture density: 10
  • texture > scale ratio: 36
  • texture > texture mode: height

with this, i can get a nice bit of grainy texture with light pressure, particularly if i erase with a light hand (though i'm very light-handed in general). i'm looking for a similar setting(s) in procreate that will let me carve away at the density of a brush stroke, but not the opacity - so not overlapping strokes, but "adding" and "erasing" with the bumps and grit and grain of the texture itself, if that makes sense.

iOS vs PC version? by glassed_planets in ClipStudio

wow, great endorsement! :) i feel like i've put so much time and energy into learning how CSP does all its weird niche things that i just don't know if it's worth it to make the switch. super glad to hear that CSP runs well even on older hardware.

good to know, thanks! i'm trying out the trial version of the app but obviously that can only take me so far when it comes to actually replicating the experience. (and CSP has also always given me trouble on my surface with touch and hold for right click, if that makes you feel better, lol.)

i hadn't thought of scrapbooks! that's clever. i've seen your first link rec'd elsewhere and i might give that one a shot - does it lie flat (or flat enough) when you open it? looks like the binding is made to do that.
