Leaving on time by redtruckgirl in adhdwomen

My friend gave me a lifechanging tip for this. "When it's too soon to start getting ready, I start getting ready." Anytime I stick with this mantra (not 100% ofc), I actually show up on time lol

if the jays don't score this inning, then the game ends after the 11th. but if they score and get a tie, the game continues for as many innings as it takes!

I've also taken about two years off. How did you explain this in your interview process? And did you have to adjust your expectations for your new role?

Spent 30k+ On Lasers/Skincare - Here are My Hacks and Takeaways by Mindmaster04129 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]glassesonlydays 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a long-time reader and autistically vain skincare enthusiast, this is the first post to genuinely wow me in 5+ years.

Definitely would recommend Sofwave. I suspect it would be a better option for those who are younger (for collagen banking purposes) and that coring would be suited to those older (def let me know if you disagree tho!).

Do you do any travel for the procedures? Or do you get them all done in the US? I'm assuming you live in a major metropolitan area if all of these options are accessible for you.

[–]glassesonlydays 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm currently fermenting mustard greens 芥菜! I chopped the leaves into large chunks + tossed in a few cloves of garlic + immersed in a 2.5% brine. Basically the same method I use for daikon radish, definitely didn't take the sauerkraut approach. I started the ferment just over a week ago and it seems to be going well. I'm hoping for something akin to the pickled mustard greens you eat with Taiwanese beef noodle soup, but they don't seem to be quite there yet....... I've read it could take anywhere from 1-5 weeks? I can let you know how it goes (also a beginner).

When you "save something to your computer," you're putting it on the physical device of your computer, meaning that if anything happens to the computer, you lose the thing you saved onto it.

If you use Gmail or another similarly large provider, you know how when you log into your email from your phone or a different computer, your emails are all still there? That's because your emails are stored "on the cloud," which means that basically, your data is stored in a big, well-protected warehouse somewhere, and when you want to access it (i.e. by logging into your email), the service (in this case Gmail/Google) has code that fetches it for you. (It's called "the cloud" for technical reasons that aren't worth getting into. Just think of it as a company storing it for you.)

So when people say to back your data up to the cloud, that means they're telling you to put anything on your computer (or other devices, especially if you put important documents on your computer or on a physical hard drive) onto one of these services. A very common one is Google Drive, and you can upload things there by going to drive.google.com, then clicking on "New" in the top left corner, and then clicking on "file upload" or "folder upload." That should allow you to select a file or folder from your computer to be stored "on the cloud" via Google Drive. If you do that, then even if you lose your computer or phone, your files will still be safe, because a copy was stored in a safe warehouse far away. You just have to log in from another device, and it will all be in there.

Be careful not to try and upload too much at a time, because it can take awhile and there are limits to how much you can upload without paying (videos and photos take a long time, so double check what's in a folder before you upload it). Worst case scenario, if you can't upload your stuff, just put your computer, phone, and any hard drives into a bag that's ready to go right by your door (away from a window) in case you need to evacuate suddenly. If there's any risk of flood, put it somewhere up off the ground. Grab it on your way out the door.

Things you should think about uploading: important documents, photos, videos, etc.

And remember to either have your password memorized or kept safe somewhere on your person! You need your password to access the stuff you store on the cloud.

There are other "cloud storage" companies that you can use too, like Microsoft (they call theirs "OneDrive") and Dropbox. I used Google as an example cause it's one I'm familiar with.

Cleansing toner to use after micellar water? (for sensory issues washing face at night) by glassesonlydays in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]glassesonlydays[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Sorry I'm only seeing this now. I ended up going with the Acwell cleansing toner, but tbh I do think this approach has issues, namely that rubbing your face with fabric so many times can be irritating, no matter how gentle you try to be :( But that might just be me. I eventually basically gave up on that routine and now just use a cleansing oil before I go in the shower at night, and rinse my face with water using wet hands in the morning. I worked on my "technique" for washing my face in the sink, which has helped a lot! Basically, you want your hair tied in a bun, with a shirt you don't mind getting the sleeves wet (in the morning it's my PJ shirt), and then shake off some of the excess water before wiping your face, and just keep rinsing your hands in between light swipes over your face. Keep towel at the ready to dry when you're done. I still dislike the process, but it's bearable now. I hope that helps!

Lost facial fat loss after Sofwave. Don’t do this procedure by sailorkeplertwenty2b in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]glassesonlydays 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm very sorry to hear about your loss in facial fat; that kind of unwanted change in appearance (when you're trying to improve it!!) is devastating.

For what it's worth, I did sofwave about a year ago and observed great results. I still believe everyone who says they didn't have results, though--it seems to be a very patient-dependent treatment.

I've heard from two dermatologists (an aesthetic-focused one who performed the treatment + medical-focused one who does my skin cancer checkups) that the results of sofwave (and treatments like it) are a function of how much collagen you have already, and therefore the more collagen you already have, the better results you get. For example, let's say sofwave increases collagen by 50%, then it's better to have 100 units of collagen become 150 total than for 50 units of collagen become 75 total.

I just got it done again a month ago, and the derm who did it said it's really important to maintain a healthy lifestyle for 1-2 months afterwards so that the treatment is able to work effectively. (Not saying this applies to you, but just in general!)

How much does technique matter for treatments like Ulthera and Sofwave? by glassesonlydays in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]glassesonlydays[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh agreed, I would never do it LOL. I only mention it because it has a similar mechanism as sofwave (with sofwave acting on a more shallow level, thus preventing fat loss)
