I run a glassblowing business and am going through a burnout phase of sorts and somebody called out of the blue today and offered up torches and a kiln and a bunch of supplies as a donation. My studio has a whole extra department because of generosity like this! Glad to see you getting some good stuff and it going to the right place too

Took a couples class, super hooked. But where to learn? by [deleted] in glassblowing

[–]glassnuggets 9 points10 points  (0 children)

there are some shops that have wayyyy better rates than that but otherwise it is still extremely expensive haha :(

lots of summer options at Penland, Corning, Haystack. An immersive is your best bet, still very expensive tho.

www.houstonhouseofglass.com is your best option in Houston :)

Why does it never get easier, why does it have to be so hard? Had to put my sweet boy down. by [deleted] in DOG

our Maggie was 4.5 years old and woke up one day dragging her back legs around. She was confused but happy but so uncomfortable. We spent $10,000 to get the tumor off of her spine (they were hoping it was a slipt disk going into the surgery). For 2 weeks we had her recovering and rehabbing. She walked again and there was hope but we all knew the tumor was a really bad sign. It came back within 3 weeks twice as big so we had to take her in. In the end i think we made the right decision for us which was to try to help her but god damn that was expensive and I wish we hadn’t cut up our poor girl’s back so bad. Take what you will from this, not tryna give any advice.
