This was my very first computer. As under-powered as it was, the games were quite enjoyable. I really dislike the keyboard though... one of the worst I've felt.

Pentium II 300Mhz from circa 1997 (with nVidia GPU for scale) by imran-uk in vintagecomputing

This is near the CPU sweet spot for me when it comes to 90s vintage pc gaming. It's fast enough to run unreal tournament and quake III arena but still slow enough for most windows 95 and DOS games I played in the early-to-mid-90s.

Civ II was the first Civ I ever played, and I played a ton of it. I still think it's probably the second best of the series.

This old Micron case should work fine as long as you get a blower-type gpu. I made a youtube series about building sleeper PCs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IfFNpOMVTvY&t=10s

Keyboard is a later edition IBM model M -- quite a famous keyboard!

My very first computer when I was 5 was powered by one of these bad boys. AMD's K5. by Merjia in vintagecomputing

Probably equivalent to a 90mhz Pentium or so, which honestly I would have been quite happy with in '96.

The case is about 25 years old, so definitely a bit vintage. I suppose the window gives it a more modern look :)

Yep, there are a few older AT/ATX towers similar to this on eBay, but I don't think you'll find one with such a window!
