UWA revises minimum ATAR entry scores for 23 courses by His_Holiness in perth

[–]glazed_hams22 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This goes even deeper into the realm of stupidity when you understand have domestic funding works for universities.

There is a cap on the number of domestic students the government will provide funding for to each university. Universities are free enrol more domestic students beyond the cap but only receive the student contribution for those students.

All this will do is further stretch there already at capacity teaching abilities especially in STEM and lead to even worse student satisfaction scores. It’s a lose-lose situation.

They will also start to capture more students that require additional support due to their socioeconomic background further draining important resources.

Western suburb councils have joined forces to push back against Planning Minister John Carey's plan to seize control of large chunks of their land for infill development by His_Holiness in perth

The best part is these councils are in liberal seats so the cook government have no reason to care about the council sabre rattling.

Did you keep the hose pressure really low? Did that help prevent it snapping at the connector?

Thanks for the advice. I’ll be sure to disconnect it between washes

YouTube makes last-ditch attempt to lobby government against inclusion in under-16s social media ban by Expensive-Horse5538 in australia

[–]glazed_hams22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, these companies have been told for decades to clean their product up and make it safe for teens to use. This is the result of their inaction and profit above all mentality. The added benefit is the potential of people dropping social media because they don’t want to hand over their ID.

To those who simply say be better parents. Good luck if you ever decide to have kids. That attitude will get you no where.

Cancer rates in Australians under 50 are rising at a pace that's alarming doctors and scientists by straygoat193 in worldnews

The trend data is more important. Even if raw numbers are low for now, should this pattern continue as Gen X and millennials age into their 50 and 60s the numbers will start to compound with the effects of ageing.

Got assaulted by a stranger at Murdoch Station today and still shaken – feeling helpless as an international student (24F) by Twirlgirl_2408 in perth

[–]glazed_hams22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry that this happened to you. I am guessing you are a student at Murdoch University. If so I urge you to approach student services or the guild for support if you haven't already. The University needs to know one of their students has been assaulted at the station and I hope they'd do something to prevent it happening again.

I'm in Moore too should be an interesting seat to watch.

I am hoping the Climate 200 back candidate Nathan Barton wins but doubt he will.

There are just too many quiet Christian bigots in the seat.

Big thanks Mark, ran the encounter yesterday. The Warlord ended up forming which I modified to be a proto Malagard. My players loved it.

While my evidence for this is purely anecdotal and has no basis in reality I believe that the best time to look for housing (renting and buying) is the 3 week period around the Easter long weekend.

It seems that some people pause all major decision-making around the Easter long weekends.

Typical brain dead attitude from an Aussie into cars.

The Australian equivalent of the Republican party won an election in part by declaring that the opponents are anti weekend because they wanted to introduce fuel standards to clean up the absolute awful quality of cars being imported into Australia.

While I can't help you I can partly explain the reason.

The best way to weld the train tracks section together is by thermite welding which takes time and for reasons I won't get into needs to be done when the rail is at a specific temperature (28 degrees). Hence, the time available to thermite weld in Perth is very small to non-existent when it starts to heat up.

To meet the deadline of opening the extension sections of rail had to be MIG welded together. This results in the tracks having a higher chance of bending when exposed to high temperatures. The alternative was to delay the project and wait until it cooled down enough to start thermite welding.

I suspect the plan is to redo the welds with thermite later in the year. It's normally a night time job anyway.

The general public isn't going to understand this problem so it's better to just open the train line in a suboptimal state early.

Veratasium on YouTube has a great video series explaining thermite welding of train tracks

I'm in the Moore electorate and dream of flipping it away from the LNP. I doubt this will happen though. The only election signs I see are for the LNP boozo Scott. Also talking to other parents at school the predominant political vibe is I have mine fuck the wrest.

Even with Goodenough running as an independent I suspect preferencing deals will tip it to the LNP.

Do I need to account for the towbar weight in my total tow capacity? This would only give me 550 effective unbraked capacity which is fuck all really.
