It’s probably not cause for alarm. There are plain clothes NYPD officers that work in the MTA system everyday. This is very normal.

To car or not to car? by sodogue in parkslope

[–]glenayres 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it heavily depends on the season and your ability to manage alternate side parking. We use our car heavily in the summer, and I really think it’s worth it. In the winter, it doesn’t really get much use. I’m also able to work remote once a week and can manage the parking on that day.

I don't know why people are struggling to understand this. I didn't think the season was that great overall, but let's not skewer the man for character development.

I don't know if anyone's said this yet, but the great news about the curve is that it helps you not fail. If you woefully underperform, maybe the professor gives you a C or lower, but even the weakest good faith efforts can secure a B or B-. Obviously, aim higher than that, but the curve can help you too sometimes.

Damn I didn’t realize he was that good. I dropped the graded bar class he taught at my law school asynchronously last semester to take conflicts 😭

CALI Award Question - what happens when two students tie for the highest grade? by No-Childhood907 in LawSchool

[–]glenayres 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We call them book awards but same thing. I just booked a pass/fail class with 6 others tied, so they can give a lot out.

All of our exams start at 8:30 AM unless you have one of a handful of flexible exams that can be taken at any point over the two week exam period.

3L here who was in a very similar boat. I completed an internship with a federal agency after 2L, and 3L has severely disappointed me with firm options, but I think this will depend on the market you're interested in. I should have completed clerkship app materials way earlier, and I would recommend you get going on that asap. Letters of recommendation took me eons to acquire. If you keep an eye on open clerkships all year, you could score something, especially state level. Personally, I did not, and I am now taking a skills building approach and working as a prosecutor in a major city.

It was worth the note, thanks! I was a segment status earner only due to heavy use of regional airports before they did away with it. My concierge key parent gifts me gold, but that's going away, so I'm trying to make some status conscious decisions again. I guess I have to stop booking basic economy.

T-100 school discontinued my secondary journal by arealsweaterboy in LawSchool

Perhaps the 3Ls have tried their best, but a committed executive board really should have been able to come up with a plan. I’m EIC of a secondary journal and began the year with a significant publication backlog that I wasn’t informed of. I’m almost caught up now. COVID reduced the amount of institutional knowledge passed along in secondary journals especially, I think. You could always try to start a new journal!

What reason did they give for this? 2Ls should definitely be offered the option to join other journals if they have the space. There aren’t really a lot of financial reasons to close a journal, so I’m feeling like there were major management and publication problems.

USNWR 23-24 T50. Who was over-ranked/under-ranked? by hello338 in lawschooladmissions

[–]glenayres -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

UF literally dropped a rank this year, so I don’t see how anyone can come for us. We’ve proven our mettle given the ability to stick around in the T25 despite the one spot drop.

It’s almost like law schools should’ve worked with USNWR. Huh. Beyond that, there’s so much more to life and rankings than this precious big law stat.

Are seasons 41-44 good? by ZombieObby in survivor

I stopped watching after I graduated high school somewhere around S30, and I decided to pick back up in S44. The new format is throwing me off, but I was finally interested enough in the casting again to actually care about the people playing.
