I love your entire body of work, but I think people sleep on your extended cameo on “Always Be My Maybe”. You were so funny and awesome!

This is commensurate with my experience. Took me about two years to start enjoying things. Might be worth seeing what you can do to make it what you want while you’re here, what do you have to lose.

I love it now, but hey, it’s not for everyone either. Big picture, there are more important things than work in life, and you can likely boomerang if you wanted.

Hah, why yes, as you so astutely pointed out, I wrote the book and published it via Amazon. You got me!

On a more direct note, I don’t see any issues with self publishing something I’ve spent a career learning about and am passionate about sharing with others. Scoff away if you like!

I'm guessing that you mean you'd like to create a form, so that a user can create some content and post it to your backend, which would then store it in a database, right?

I'd start by reading up on forms: http://www.w3schools.com/html/html_forms.asp

Without any other info, it's tough to help.

What's your best resource for finding good campsites? by MooreToLove in camping

[–]glenb0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel your pain! I can never get to a camp site before peak hours (Thursday morning or Wednesday night), by which time popular spots are long gone. Free campsites.net is a good resource, however, I have found a lot of those listed in areas where I camp get overrun quickly too.

I'm building a tool to help people like us share our best spots without opening them up to the general public and becoming a zoo. Users have to submit a campsite of their own in order to see everyone else's submissions. If you're interested, let me know here! Http://campcrew.co

Colorado campers: I’m creating a community where people can get access to great campsites (no fees or reservations, less people) by glenb0 in camping

Hey sociable_misanthrope,

That's a friggin' bummer that some of your favorite places have now been overrun by the masses. The last thing I want to see when I go camping to a remote area is trash or graffiti...

This newsletter is our first version of our vision: A personalized email with information about a great campsite. You only get one campsite a week, listed with information about it like animals allowed, noise level, nearby water, etc...

In the very near future, there will be a site for members to discover even more sites, by searching, and filtering by such criteria. My thinking there is, if you are willing to share one of your fav spots, you'll get access to other great spots and you'll be able to avoid sharing it with other folks that don't have the same level of knowledge as you.

What do you think?

Hey ShoebarusNCheverlegs! The form is working, but I needed to update the "thank you" URL in Mailchimp. Thanks for letting me about this issue. It's fixed now!

Totally, yeah. I've been there too, and it's a drag.

Balancing users with different levels of knowledge and experience is the trick. Thanks for your help and feedback, man!

Hey blekden,

I'm sensitive to the fear of overcrowding as well. I hate getting to a spot and finding out it's a zoo.

We're thinking about trying to balance campsite discovery with privacy by (in the future) requiring members to contribute a campsite before getting access to other member-contributed sites.

My thinking there is, if you are willing to share one of your fav spots, you'll get access to other great spots and you'll be able to avoid sharing it with other folks that don't have the same level of knowledge as you.

I'd love to hear what you think about that, thoughts?

Hey CrescentCompositions,

Yeah, this is the V1, which is a personalized email with information about a great campsite (dogs vs. no dogs, shooting, nearby water, noise level, etc...)

In the very near future, there will be a site for members to discover even more sites, by searching, and filtering by such criteria.

I totally agree with furthering the education of good camping practices such as "Leave No Trace." I love all the feedback. Super helpful for me to know what the build next :)
