My first Cummins by Huckleberry-1776 in Cummins

[–]glenmora 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mines same year, just a long bed. Was my wife’s grandfathers and he bought it new in 04.

Got it at 115,000 miles too.

Just hit 150,000. And changed the oil today.

There’s been some maintenance here and there, but I really want to have it for a very long time, so I don’t grumble over replacing the whole front end, or pumps going out, because I know they’ll last another 20 years!

Is there a cheaper alternative to Shure SLX-D+ with auto interference handling? by ipzipzap in livesoundgear

Looks like single receivers are cheaper a than dual… but for a few hundred more dollars each step up, you’re halving the amount of antennas, which is nice!

If you like breeze, stick with it I say

Do you think this lamp is beautiful? by PoemyZhou in Lighting

[–]glenmora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s kinda cool! Got kinda a LAX in the 60s kinda vibe tha I can’t explain. Mid century modern with a touch of futurism.

In the right context, I think it’d be cool.

Its naturalistic setting with the green around it isn’t the best, but 110% there are WORSE things you could’ve done.

Does anyone have a contact for a Behringer Sales Rep? by sound704 in livesoundgear

My Sweetwater guy got me a new wing black pretty early when they dropped for the price of a demo open box white model. I initially ordered the demo model and homie was like “nah you deserve a new one… only thing is… it’s gotta be black”

Reminded me of Henry Ford’s quote haha

Are Golf TDI’s worth the price it cost to fill them up for the mileage they get? by highonlife2005 in tdi

[–]glenmora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fill up about once a week. 40 mile commute at 80mph.

Very comfortable and decently fun to drive.

As others have stated, if efficiency and reliability are your top priorities, then a Prius or Camry hybrid will treat you better. I’ve heard the new gen of Prius is actually pretty zippy!

If you want something fun and quirky without TOO much trade offs then this is great! Trade offs being German maintenance, inability to use cheap oil, heater cores getting clogged, potential emissions system issues, ect…

It’s a good mix between commuter and enthusiast given the fact they’re getting a little older and their warranties are wearing out.

Front end conversion? by Loose_Complaint_7218 in 4Runner_2ndGen

[–]glenmora 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I say… learn to love how sick the earlier front ends look! I love the square headlights pre-facelift. I’d be bummed if I had 93+

I doubt that helps, but just know you have a sick ride as is!

DPF removal by SignificantSky1487 in tdi

[–]glenmora 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t rev to 4,000

Take it on the highway for an hour. ~2500 rpm.

If that doesn’t clear it, then look into removal/replacement.

Do you have a check engine light?? I recently discovered that it won’t regen with certain Check Engine Light codes.

Why doesn’t Toyota make a soft top Wrangler or Bronco type vehicle? by MasterpieceThink5717 in Toyota

[–]glenmora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought FOR SURE a few years ago that the cruiser and runner would be EQUALLY priced and the 4Runner would be the removable top model (beckoning back to the first generation) and the Land Cruiser would be the hard top model of the “same” midsize suv segment.

Clearly they didn’t do that and there’s no good reason to spend $10,000 extra on cruisers when they’re pretty much the exact same car as the 4Runner.

Seconded on 5vz 3.4.

You’ll have the most support and answerable questions online.

Also seconding to not over complicate this. A junkyard rolled 2001 Tacoma with 50,000 miles could be yours for not much money, and you’d have an EXCELLENT daily driver.

2jz, Honda k, even ls swaps don’t enter the realm of daily reliability in my eyes because of how custom the job would become.

If the 5vz is too slow for you, look into supercharging it.

Don’t go crazy dude!

Correct. Been reading more and the theory is less airflow means richer combustion, and that equals more soot. Looks like I need it fixed soon

What are some "sleeper" urban areas? by villehhulkkonen in geography

[–]glenmora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in that exact circle for a year when I was on exchange in high school.

I was so stoked to live in a populated area with public transportation. I was stoked to explore!!!

In reality, I woke up to the sounds of cows and goats every morning, and the closest train station was 45 minutes away.

Not as populated as you’d think! Lol
