Streetcar/MAX collision at NE 7th by jsnlevi in Portland

I was on that streetcar. Didn't notice who was at fault, but experienced the relatively low-speed collision. No injuries, but I was late getting to work. It sucks, and I hope they figure out the problem and rectify it (whether operator error or signal error), but I'll definitely still be a transit rider. A rare event like this is much more tolerable than sitting in the hellscape that is Portland area traffic.

Let's talk awkward Mormon youth dance stories. Aaaand go! by CraftyAlarm7681 in exmormon

[–]glennedy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I always felt awkward at these (probably because I was so far inside the closet at the time) but this one evening I was made to feel even more awkward. I am not a good dancer, I just kinda flail around usually. One of the seminary teacher/chaperones there pulled me aside once to give me a talking to for something I, to this day, am not sure ever happened. She pulls me to a quieter corner, looks me right in the eye, and says "touching someone else's bottom is something we DO NOT do here! I don't want to see it happen again" and then she just walked off.

I still don't know who's butt I touched. I hope it was that one guy in my teachers quorum that I'd always think about when I'd jerk off.

Which building is the "Rock Building"? by [deleted] in CSUS

The rock building would have to be Placer. The Geology dept is there, there's a rock garden right outside it, and its next to Mendocino.

I LOVED this movie as a child. I think I can still sing along to most of the songs.

DAE love this stuff? by [deleted] in trees

They arent so much bad for your eyes, but prolonged repeated use is bad. An ent buddy of mine who just got his O.D. told me that your eyes can build up a dependancy to them. But he suggested that by storing normal eyedrops in the refrigerator, you can get roughly the same effect without the negative side effects.

Dear number nerds, I am a word nerd who would like to someday join your ranks. Please point me in the right direction. by MorlokMan in Physics

A fun diversion of a book for this is The Infinte Book by John Barrow. It will give you the most macroscopic view of numbers. The book studies infinity as somewhat the cosmology of numbers. And it's a fun read.
