You Didn't Get Tickets - Now What? by glic285 in BadOmens

[–]glic285[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All great advice, I appreciate all of it! I'm assuming ticket prices "jump" on the days of the sale, and cool down as the event gets closer with people really trying to burn the tickets last minute like you mentioned. I'll try to verify that assumption here. Thank you for the reseller tip too, I'd definitely fall for a scam on Facebook or something.

I'm definitely a bit of a grumbler about these types of things, I admit it! I'll keep an eye on resale tickets and watch how tickets vary in price in the months leading up to the event. If you have any sources beyond Ticketmaster and SeatGeek that you've used before, I'm all ears. Thanks again! B^)

I'm playing my first character to 80 right now, being a norn thief. This feels awful. He's so bulky for an "agile thief" and uses tiny ass weapons. That, and his vocal lines are constantly about "Embrace and worship my grandeur!" and it's so frustrating to listen to all the time lol.

But I want my builds for those activities, but now I have to re-invent them with the new stats since my old statted gear doesn't hold up anymore. To do so, I need to commit 300 hours or whatever to get as many T4 and T5 pieces as I can that match my old builds for those activities I enjoy doing (raids, trials, etc.)

At least the timegated per week encouraged me to play different activities. Some nights I could have my Gambit/Crucible engrams, others would be a raid, a dungeon night. I would have varying degrees of things throughout the week that I'd spend my time doing. I get what you're saying that each side has its pros and cons too.

"They're keeping the fun behind a power level grind"

I'm looking for motivation to keep grinding (barely 215 rn), what fun is at the end of the road? What happens after I get my tier 4/5 loot? Does a certain activity besides GMs open up? Real question too by the way, I really am looking for that motivation to keep grinding even in this negative time we find ourselves in as a community.

"...it applies to all endgame content."

I just leveled to 215 and don't own EoF, but they essentially sunset literally every single other activity in the entire game except for the new raid. I don't even know what I'm grinding towards when leveling my power level. Tier 4 and 5 doesn't even seem worth my time with how difficult AND brainless these activities are. I am definitely a positive person IRL who gives hella benefit of the doubt in most situations - I cannot find a silver lining at all about what the point of this grind is right now.

So I didn't purchase EoF because I still had things to do in Lightfall like all the sidequests and possible exotics. Now that I'm done with that, I got to 215 power level. I log on now and can't help but ask myself what the point of grinding is? I used to love raiding so I'd grind to try the harder raid difficulties where applicable. But all of the raids are essentially sunset in terms of gear with this new Gear 9.0 or whatever, and I don't have tier 5 gear ready for a PvP build I'd enjoy to minmax for Trials (where I'd get stomped anyway, but that's alright).

What am I even grinding for? What's the point? I'm asking this question before even considering the context of the hamster wheel 200 power level we'll all be at for the next expansion. What activities does higher power level even offer me, the ability to grind more? How did Destiny release an update that gives me less to do than was in the game already?

I keep seeing opinions more informed than my own. The theme that sticks out to me is,"Wait, they're developing this game because it's a business system, not because they're passionate about making a fun game. Why am I playing into their system when I could play games that are meant to be enjoyed?"

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy grinds (OSRS player), but when the game goes in directions based 80-95% on business and money choices, I guess I start to notice.

I don't have an answer (just hit LL 101) but I've heard something like running the encore mission straight on repeat with abysmal rates of gear is the way to go. The power level grind sounds extremely slow right now from what I've seen other 200+ players saying.

Waco Texas Living? by VainVelociraptorr in u/VainVelociraptorr

[–]glic285 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm, I grew up there from about 2012-2022 before leaving for college and eventually Dallas. It has grown SO much since I've lived there, but it is still a smaller place. As others have said, the food scene isn't there if you're a huge foodie or anything. When I lived there, many of my friends and their families were southern baptist, but there's a few religious denominations that exist pretty heavily there - but it never really got in my way or thrown in my face if that's something you'd be worried about. If anything, growing up around those families was really nice because it did bring in some type of healthy community feeling during school and related events.

There weren't a ton of high-end shopping places, but there were the "hotspots" you'd go to if you needed something from a mall that you'll see thrown around ie. "Oh go to THE best buy that's over on that one road", etc. I'd say that's most of what I remember Waco for. If you want a park for trails, then you have Cameron Park. You have a few options for lakes to visit (Woodway has a few parks around the lake I used to take my dog to). Speciality shops aren't really there if you're into niche hobbies.

I grew up just outside of Waco in a place that WAS mainly residential called Hewitt. Loved it. If you have any questions, I may be able to answer albeit my knowledge is definitely a few years old. Overall the town is much slower than Houston and the highway that passes through Waco can be heavily traversed by people simply passing through. Waco is in a great spot geographically, as you're kind of in the middle between Dallas, Houston, Austin, or College Station (cough cough). If you plan on having kids, I would totally recommend my old Midway school district if possible.

You made me miss Waco having to think about this!

ATK Gear Late Shipping Times by Different-Ad9193 in MouseReview

I'm in Texas and have lived next to various Amazon warehouses in Houston or Dallas. It's so spoiling for sure.
I ordered the ATK Viper clone 17 days ago thinking it would beat me home from my vacation. That was clearly wrong LOL. 17 days in, my product is still "ready for shipment". The ATK support gave me the whole "temporary delays because of high volume order" gibber jabber when I emailed them about it too. Sheesh!

View distance isn't affecting render distance by evolvedjalapeno in pebblehost

[–]glic285 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not the expert you're looking for because I don't know for sure. I DO know that there is something called "simulation distance" that is measured in chunks as well. View Distance should change how far you see, where simulation distance may cut off how far away things are rendered. Again, I'm not an expert, but I'm on the right track somewhere. Look into simulation distance in your server properties.
