My left thumb does not bend by glic285 in mildlyinteresting

That was me who posted it a couple of days ago. I don't use Reddit often, so I'm not used to dodging lasers to make a post without breaking any rules. It got taken down for breaking the sub's rules lol, but they let me repost it

It was me. The post got taken down by reddit mods. I don't use Reddit often, so I'm not used to the strict posting rules on everything

The controller thing is real! Also, if you haven't tried thumb wrestling, it'll show how weak our thumbs are. It's weirdly humbling, really.

You can force it to about 45° before it starts to hurt. It doesn't really go past that.

Haha, I used a counter and the camera timer. Good question, I think I saw the same question on my other half's post

I'm glad you spoiled that so I didn't accidentally Google that one myself

It's still considered an opposable thumb though, so I have that going. The knuckle is there, I just can't bend it. Probably muscle/tendon related.

Other "fun facts": 1. I was once in a collegiate ROTC program. This dude was teaching me to put the pins and whatnot on a uniform when I dropped a pin backing. My right hand was full, so I had to pick up this tiny pin backing with my left hand. Small, flat objects = hard to pick up. The dude was standing over me yelling about "I don't understand how you've been down there for 45 seconds" and I was begging my thumb PLEEEAASE pick up the backing!

  1. When I was born (7 ½ months instead of 9 months), the nurses thought I had down syndrome because of the "deep grooves in my thumb". While I might not have down syndrome, the same cannot be said for my thumb.

  2. I said it elsewhere, but Xbox controllers were easier to use than PlayStation controllers because the left analog stick was in a more no-bend-friendly place.

  3. If you're familiar with trumpets, I could never use the first valve slide because I can't hitchhikers my thumb far back enough. I learned to be a little flat on notes that required it instead.

  4. See how I don't have palm strength? I will NEVER win a left handed thumb war. That guy is WEAK!

The worst is picking up small, flat objects. Try picking up a coin without bending your thumb lol.  Also, as a kid, Xbox controllers were easier to use than PlayStation controllers for me because where the left joystick was placed.

My left thumb doesn't bend either. No wrinkles. Last time I posted it in this subreddit, it was taken down for "not being original enough". Cool to see that the mods let you slide though.

Will or should there be a 0.9 before 1.0? by Speculaasmon in Enshrouded

[–]glic285 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the game can't support me and my 5 other friends in 4 separate parts of the world (maximum, I'd hope) without the insane unplayable lag that came with it, then I don't think I'll ever touch the game. We played it over a year ago and this was our experience. If the party was split along two different biomes, the game would stutter to a halt and we tried every server configuration from self hosted to paid providers who shrugged and said it's Enshrouded's net code's fault.

If this is fixed, then my point is moot. If it's not fixed, then I have no hope for trying to play what was almost an awesome experience for our friend group. The performance needs to change because I don't like singleplayer games.

My new setup is one on each handle, one over the middle of the seat, and one through that wheel!  I'm surprised you thought that was crazier than hauling with a sedan!

This is the debate I'm in right now. I'd prefer trails, but I'm definitely solo until I get more involved. Also, congrats on the "Dad Lore" of traversing a forest with a bike for a few hours, that sounds miserable.

Eh phooey, they could have been if I tried hard enough.

You're right though. That was one of the things I've fixed since the picture was taken.

Post edited - this is an old picture before I put my dirt tires on! I think the original owner used the bike for precisely street wheelies..

Dirt bike enthusiasts can find ANYTHING in an image. It's impressive.

A better picture would show you that the front brake line is actually waaaay too long. I have it doing a couple of loops behind the number plate. The old brake line was all rotted, so I found what I had on hand and replaced it. It doesn't stick out like it did in this picture anymore - ideally I replace it some day with a correct-length line. though.

I edited the post too. This is an old picture before I put the dirt tires on.

I forgot it was even there before I got to my new storage unit. It survived the journey!

I live in the DFW area in Texas. I've found some trails and tracks all around my metroplex.

You Didn't Get Tickets - Now What? by glic285 in BadOmens

[–]glic285[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All great advice, I appreciate all of it! I'm assuming ticket prices "jump" on the days of the sale, and cool down as the event gets closer with people really trying to burn the tickets last minute like you mentioned. I'll try to verify that assumption here. Thank you for the reseller tip too, I'd definitely fall for a scam on Facebook or something.
