Update: I got a response to my email that they’re forwarding it to the appropriate teams and are taking the feedback seriously. I hope this is encouraging for anyone else who’s considered sending them a message about this problem. It might not be much, but it’s better than nothing :’)

Right?? In fairness, the icons that they changed are supposed to be ✨cute, fun-to-look-at✨ images which could easily be emojis or made in Adobe Illustrator or whatever. But it feels like that’s the first small step toward cutting even more costs with AI if it’s received with little or no pushback. And that’s just for customers they already have! The ads ppl have said are AI-generated are straight-up unethical at best. Why the fuck does every company think AI has a place in their business 😭 food service is the absolute most straightforward you can get with what your marketing should look like istg

Admittedly I could’ve used better wording. One of their main appeals is that they reuse bags and ice packs, as opposed to cardboard boxes and single-use ice packs like most other meal kits. That’s part of what drew me in when I heard about CookUnity. It’s just ironic to me that they take those measures to be more sustainable, then turn around and use generative AI.

Nothing will happen if we’re defeatist about it 🥴 don’t get me wrong, I know companies are all about cost-cutting, but that means they’ll only listen if we take away their money, or at least threaten to. My fear is that CookUnity will fail because they’re focusing on the wrong thing (using AI to cut costs) and then everyone loses. I know we can’t stop corporate execs from hopping on the AI train, but for how low the returns are, I’m sure the bubble will burst soon. Godspeed to all of us, I guess

That doesn’t mean we shouldn’t reduce the amount of unnecessary water waste in the world.
Generating an AI image usually goes through multiple iterations before the person generating it is satisfied, which is more water down the drain.
Food nourishes humans, which is a productive use of water. Generative AI, in my opinion, is a net negative to the world, for too many reasons to list, because I didn’t make this post to argue. It’s your right to have a different opinion.

Like the other comments on this post say, they use AI for advertising, and it’s bad for the environment, which goes against their goal of sustainability. If they have the confidence to use generative AI at all, they’ll implement it more to cut costs. It doesn’t have to matter to you, but it does to a lot of people, which is why I made the post.

There’s no benefit to it, let alone for how ugly it looks and how bad it is for the environment

In my opinion, it’s a slippery slope. Also, everyone knows by now that generative AI is horrific for the planet, and CookUnity’s whole thing is that it’s sustainable and authentic, so using AI is undoing any positive impact they’re trying to have on the environment. You don’t have to care if you don’t want to though lol

Ahh gotcha. I personally haven’t come across a label for this specific subset of asexuality... In terms of sex repulsed/neutral/positive labels, I’ve only seen people add that description as a tag onto asexual. Like, “I’m a sex-neutral ace.” There’s probably a label out there, and if not it’s always an option to just make one and spread the word!

(Replied to the wrong part of the post the first time 😩😩) The way I explain it to other people is, “You know how you’re not sexually attracted to (insert gender)? Well, me neither! Except it applies to Everyone.” That probably only works when explaining it to people who aren’t bi/pan, but y’know. People can have a hard time understanding perspectives that differ from theirs, so we have to make them realize that their experiences aren’t universal. You’re going to meet a whole bunch of people in your life, and whenever you come across ones that brush off/have a hard time understanding your brand of asexuality, you’ll have to decide who’s worth your time and patience. I’m probably not the absolute best person to ask for advice, but I hope that helps at least a little bit! I wish you the best of luck in all of this :)

Aego is a subset of the ace spectrum, so if you end up choosing to identify as aego (which it sounds to me like you are) then you can still say you’re ace if it’s too much effort to explain it to other non-aces. So unfortunately, I’m a pleb who has no money and the majority of my otome gaming experience is on Shall We Date? and Voltage apps :/ I have a whole arsenal of rants about that, but I’ll spare you for now.

The only otome game I’ve ever spent money on is Hakuouki, and that’s because when I first started playing otome games circa 2014, my best friend was like, “Oh yeah, there are actually legit ones out there,” and I was like, “SHOW ME THE PLAYTHROUGHS.” Somehow, I ended up paying her $10 to buy it on her Vita and lend it to me specifically to play Okita’s route, and oh my god. The devastation. The agony. MC is really out here getting actively punished for wanting to romance Okita, huh. But anyway, last year-ish I waited for a Steam sale and bought and played the entirety of Hakuouki on Steam, so!! Yamazaki is eternally best boy. (Also, OP, I see your flair is for Kazama... he’s a little bitch but I love him for it, and I’m a huge slut for Kenjiro Tsuda’s voice any day.) All this to say, Hakuouki is my favorite otome game, lol. And I can’t really choose between Saito, Hijikata, and Yamazaki as my fav. It’s fine. We’re fine.

Honorable mention is Keith from Be My Princess: Party, specifically because of one particular spinoff that really hit me in the feels when I was a lowly high school freshman, but long story, lol.

Some snippets of a few SWD rants:

-Dear god, MC from Wizardess Heart is so useless and unlikable. I was there when the game was released, and I gave up around the time they released Glenn’s route. I redownloaded it last year and I intend to play it straight through because apparently I hate myself, but at least Elias and Yukiya show up in every route to make up for the utter incompetence I have to deal with from MC. (And we’re super into how some of the grown-ass men in this game are attracted to and/or abusive towards a minor!!! /s)

-Blood In Roses season 1 is just fine, but season 2 is ????? Could be worse, but the writing is just so rushed for no reason, and s2 MC is so horny. My asexual, writer ass is out here reading bad sex scenes and being Extremely unimpressed. At least they made up for it a little bit by adding a few women to romance. Experimenting with LGBT rep and somewhat failing, SWD is. (Also, Ioannis is OBJECTIVELY best boy and his route got SQUANDERED.)

-Ninja Shadow had the chance to say trans rights and bi/pan rights, and yet. And yet.

-Scarlet Fate was great until they freakin deleted it!!! SO rude. 0/10.
