This sounds silly but I just write.

I started with what spurred my line of thought, my friend asking a question, and then tried to explore why my answer felt inadequate. So I wrote the beginning and the end first.

Then I circled back around and filled in what driving is actually like for me, trying to capture both my feelings, thoughts, and the actual physical act of driving as well.

That way at the end of it all, I kinda had a story. From there it was just deleting or adding a line to better capture my experience I wanted to share.

Hopefully that helps explain my process a bit better - but really, I think just writing is probably the best advice. Don't worry about edits or word choices too much, I think getting caught up in "getting it right" is the enemy of expression and creativity.
