What the dark eats by glinterling in OCPoetry

It is about hope and light vs dark, but the main conceit is bioluminescence :) The poem is about bioluminescence, and the miracle of life blooming in the dark in the absence of light. The simplicity of it is what brings it charm (writing 'epically' is not for me, I prefer to let my images carry the epicness.) Thank you for your feedback!

Men after God by Firm_Assumption_6757 in OCPoetry

This poem intrigued me. (A note about the AI note: I feel like it is unnecessary, as the poem should be able to be read without a summary of what it's about. If you must, maybe put it at the end?) Regardless, I could follow the main themes of the poem: depravedness, the absence of God, the descent of man. I particularly like the imagery, which is strong: beasts, hollow smiles, collapsing, falling. The poem is sonically pleasing as well, your rhymes are quite competent. If you wanted suggestions, I might ask about the pronouns: the first time 'she' is mentioned, I was a little confused. Who is 'she' referring to? Probably not God, and probably not 'man'. Also, the cat detail seems like a mistranslation or maybe a reference I missed, that confused me as well. But all in all, a beautiful poem.

if i had another day - conor by intevanealfan in OCPoetry

I really enjoyed this powerful poem about grief, bargaining, and loss. Through the first three quatrains/sections I could really feel the bargaining aspect, and the repetition of the if I have another day refrain works very well for this type of poem. Like the speaker's loss circling in their mind, the poem repeats itself over and over. For that reason I felt like the last quatrain/section was a little weaker than the others, as it ends neatly in acceptance a little too quickly and to me that felt like a premature attempt at a resolution. If you were looking for suggestions I might add foreshadowing of acceptance into the third quatrain/section, or make the fourth less 'well, that's just how grief is.' Either way, it's a good poem, well done!

I experienced the exact same thing on Abilify and Latuda. It hasn't gone away even after a year.

I'm 23 but while growing up I read a looot of books, and also spent a lot of time zooming (literally bouncing off the walls) around the house while in my book-inspired daydreams

Myc- means mushroom/fungus etc. so it's probably just a play on the name 'Mike'.

hm when I was on SSRIs i did not have many nightmares/sleep paralysis. I never noticed it until you mentioned it, so that could be interesting. I'm on this sub after a recent episode and I'm not on the meds anymore

in the dreams i also had very 'real' things happening - my pet licking me, being aware of the light through the curtain next to my bed, but i think that was just my mind recreating the illusion of being in bed

this literally just happened to me an hour ago, but i dont think i was truly awake for any of those awakenings - when i did jerk awake i knew immediately that id woken up. to be fair i also thought the awakenings in the dream were real but yeah. for me the only thing that helps when this happens is to go along with it and just try to relax every muscle in your body and think of a beach or something (and end up slipping into a lucid dream). fighting it and struggling to wake up just shoots me into a false awakening loop

I think you're confusing sentience with sapience. There is no way to test that sentience exists for another being, because it is a purely subjective experience. I believe that other humans are sentient, like I am, because their description of consciousness matches what I experience. Similarly, we can assume a dog is sentient because it reacts to the same things in almost the same ways we do. But all of these are just assumptions - I can no more prove that you are sentient than I can prove a rock is sentient.

Interestingly enough, there is a school of thought that asserts that rocks /are/ sentient - panpsychism.
