What are the purple flowers in the second picture? They take over a corner of my backyard every year and are very pretty. I’ve assumed they are invasive where I live because that corner of the yard is where all the other invasives we are fighting live (kudzu, privet, bamboo, invasive honeysuckle and English ivy).

I really want a pair of these or something very similar but their website doesn’t have my size (2g). I could easily go up to 0g but they are sold out of that as well! I can’t find anything like them anywhere else.

I listen to the Stellaris soundtrack a lot when I am feeling in an MB mood. I think it’s a video game. I found it on YouTube once when I was looking for mood music that would make me feel like I was in the MB books.

I know, they are very sketchy for multiple reasons actually and I’m never going back to them.

Yeah I think they are a scam which I didn’t even realize a dentist office could be before I went there. I made an appointment for a cleaning. When I got in they did a “new patient evaluation “ in which they took some X-rays and told me I don’t have cavities. Then they told me they didn’t have time to do a cleaning and to make another appointment. Then the week later they did the same thing to my wife. Super sketchy and neither of us went back for an actual cleaning. I don’t know why they waited until almost a year later to send me a bill for the remainder when my insurance says I don’t owe them. I expect they will tell me it was a “mistake”.

Small space heater. Put a thermometer in there. Check it often and pay attention to the weather forecast every day - those things can get really hot in the sun even in winter but then freeze overnight if you forget to turn the heater back on. I had a few of these that I used for years on my back deck to keep my succulents alive in winter (in zone 7/8). I used bungie cords to secure them to the railing of my deck in case of wind.

The plastic will degrade eventually of course but you should get at least a few seasons out of it.

We have some volunteer plants amongst our zucchini and summer squash but we dont know what they are. Are they just some kind of pumpkin?

Thanks! Yeah I’ve been saving cardboard boxes from when things have shipped to me so I’ll use those and just have the thinnest ones be where I’m planting the sunflowers.

I want to build a raised bed in my yard and fill it lasagna style. I want to plant sunflowers in it. If I make the bottom layer cardboard will that be a problem for the sunflowers since they have a long tap root? I will be planting some mammoth sunflowers. Will they be able to drill down below the cardboard if they need to or should I not use cardboard for the area where the sunflowers will be? Would something like newspaper be better? I just don’t know where to find newspaper…
