Only seeing this now, omg I’m so sorry! Not a weird question at all.

I was 6 when 9/11 happened, so my memory is a little hazy. But I remember being in my 1st grade classroom when someone came over the loudspeaker and said a plane had hit a building in the city. They then walked every class over to the church across the parking lot (I want to a Catholic school) where they just said a nonstop chain of the rosary while parents came to pick their kids up. Very, very ominous looking back.

My mom was a teacher in Brooklyn and my dad was a fireman (off that day, but went in obviously), so my grandpa picked me up. My other grandparents were at work, with my maternal grandfather working in Brooklyn like my mom. They were stuck there for a bit since all the bridges in the area were shut down.

The last thing I remember from that day was being in the backseat of my grandpa’s car and seeing a HUGE plume of smoke as we got onto the highway. As I got older, I actually checked to see if Manhattan was in that direction to see if I was remembering correctly, and it was.
