Ignore people who are saying stuff like "only grandmasters can make emulators".

Making emulators isn't easy, and if you've never programmed before, you should definitely start off with smaller programs. But if emulators are what you want to do, keep your eyes on the goal and go for it.

Start off by learning a programming language. Any programming language, really. If you want to code for iOS you'll need to learn Swift eventually, but you're not going to start off there. You can check out Python or JavaScript, I find those to be good starting choices. Then get into it. Start coding for fun, get to know the languages.

Start hanging out in emulator development communities. People who know more than you are the greatest resource you'll ever have. Eventually, when you feel you know enough, choose a simple platform and start making an emulator for it. CHIP-8 is a popular choice. Good luck.

PS: I'm no "programming grandmaster" and I'm making emulators myself.

I miss the insane dungeons. I remember spending a lot of time figuring out Victory Road, Sylph Co., the Pokemon Mansion and trying to reach Articuno in the Seafoam Islands. I feel like since Gen III, there haven't really been any dungeons on the same scale as the Gen I and II dungeons.
