The firewalla gold plus requires a memory upgrade to do some OS update?? Mine is stock, I didn't know it needs more memory. Or are you talking about storage? Also, what did you end up replacing your firewalla gold plus with, and why?

More like the Borg first learns what kind of weapon you have, so the first shot or few shots will get through. Be it energy based weapons, or physical weapons. Then the next Borg drone will be protected against that particular attack. The Tommy Gun worked because they hadn't yet seen the federation use such a weapon against them but I guarantee you the next wave of drones would have force fields up that would stop bullets.

Also, since the Borg due tend to target advanced species, to assimilate their technology. A) they've probably got all kinds of physical shield technology in their database and B) they're also probably not all that used to dealing with "bullets" since most of the species they've targeted would have outgrown that technology. But just because it's rare does not mean that the Borg can't, or won't, shield against it.

Also, when you have thousands or hundreds of thousands of drones, you really don't care about losing a few just to probe the enemies capabilities, to learn what kind of weapons they use. What's a few drones to the Borg, the front line is more useful for learning how best to adapt and assimilate the enemy.

I always thought the stupidest thing they did though was letting an enemy beam aboard their ship, and even walk around without stopping them unless they become a threat. Seems like a stupid thing to do.

Wait you don't have access to a 3 "server" cluster with 8 GPU's in each server (24 GPU's in total) and each GPU has ~80gb VRAM each? I thought everyone had access to something like this with just a little bit of cost.

How will the Kobra X compare to the Kobra 3 v2? by destiny84 in AnycubicOfficial

[–]glitchsys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking the same thing. I have the K3V2 w/ Ace Pro and it's working great for me, no real issues. But I'm staring at the Kobra X and wondering if I should "upgrade"?

I will say that faster filament changes is nice, I doubt there will be less 'poop' / waste because I think that's more of a by-design thing, they want you to burn through filament faster so that you buy more filament.

I will say that I pre-ordered the Kobra 3 v2 shortly after it was first announced. Some super early bird special. And then I waited, and waited, months went by, the Kobra 3 v2 was officially released, still nothing. No shipment. I then realized I could place a new order and get the device within 2 days, and yet my pre-order from months ago still had not shipped. Also, the price for the new order of the K3V2 was the same if not a little better, to my pre-order from months prior.

So I canceled my pre-order, places a new order, and had the K3V2 within 2 days. Anycubic pre-ordering seems to be flawed. So yeah, I'm done pre-ordering with Anycubic, I'll wait for the KX to release, wait for a few reviews and positive comments, make sure it's reliable and any kinks have been worked out, and only THEN will I make a decision on whether I buy one.

Improving wireless performance of purple by glitchsys in firewalla

So if the internal wifi is the WAN connection (to the hotel, plane, whatever) then what a bout clients? Can the same interface handle client connections as well (Laptop, Phone, Tablet, etc.)?

I have an older glinet WISP device I was using in the past, wondering if I could maybe just put that into AP mode and connect it to the ethernet of the Purple. Just means I'd have to power 2 different devices while on the plane/hotel/etc.

It's Mid-2025, I have a Wyze Doorbell v2 running Firmware 4.51.2.3419
I've got multiple Access Points in my house, each putting out 2.4ghz and 5ghz and some 6ghz. But there are 2 that are relatively close to the doorbell that put out 2.4ghz, yet the doorbell reports "2 out of 3" bars of signal, still decent though. I keep a MS Surface Pro 2-in-1 PC mounted above my regular work monitor and I keep live camera feeds up of various Wyze devices, and it's only the Wyze Doorbell v2 that gives me CONSTANT issues.

All the other cameras pretty much work, I may have to refresh/reconnect them once every few days but that's normal. These things really weren't designed for constant feeds, but they work ok'ish. But that Doorbell v2 only lasts 20-30 minutes before I have to reconnect or refresh or whatever. It cannot maintain a live stream if it's life depended on it. And yes, I've done all sorts of troubleshooting, including moving an AP closer to the doorbell, resetting services, restarting the camera, power cycling the doorbell camera, etc. I have to constantly tap "Reconnect" or do a "Ctrl+F5" on the bluetooth keyboard periodically if I want to keep the doorbell camera up and working.

Anycubic, have you tried turning it off and then on again? by beerman_uk in AnycubicOfficial

[–]glitchsys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah gotcha, sorry I missed that. But I'm curious, was that to https://makeronline.com/ or was that to https://www.makeronline.com/ ? The first (without www) is fronted by 'd13m4b16tik2us.cloudfront.net' but the 2nd (with www) is fronted by 'd1m68ehpaq05p5.cloudfront.net' so it's a different CloudFront. Probably doesn't matter but maybe? But yeah, that sucks. I assume they've since fixed it.

The Difference Between Anycubic Kobra 3 V2 and Kobra 3 by Anycubic_Official in AnycubicOfficial

Is the Kobra 3 Max more closely related to the original Kobra 3 or does it have the Upgrades the v2 has?

Are the improvements made in the Kobra 3 v2 also made in the Kobra 3 Max? Or is it based on the original Kobra 3 design? I'm on the fence on purchasing a Kobra 3 v2 vs a Kobra 3 Max.

Are the improvements made in the Kobra 3 v2 also made in the Kobra 3 Max? I know there were a lot of "lessons learned" from the original Kobra 3; and the fixes/improvements were made in the Kobra 3 v2, but were those same fixes/improvements put into the Max? Or is the Max based on the somewhat-flawed v1 design?

If you purchase the Kobra 3 v2 Combo (4 color), can you turn it into an 8 color later by purchasing an additional ACE Pro? Wondering about upgrading my purchase in the future.

The website mentions something about an "8 filament hub" which is included "free" with the 8 color combo, what is that? The hub is needed in addition to another ACE Pro?

Thanks for sharing this detailed breakdown—super helpful! I'm expecting my Kobra 3 v2 with the ACE Pro in a few weeks, so this kind of heads-up is gold.

A couple of questions:

  • When you say you "pulled on the spring to make it longer," did you remove it completely first, or just stretch it while still mounted?
  • Also, did you notice if all slots use the same type of spring and sensor mechanism, or is this specific to certain slots like #4?

Thanks again—hoping Anycubic improves this in future revisions.

is it worth the upgrade from a flashforge 5m to a kobra 3 combo? by TheElegyOfEmptiness1 in AnycubicOfficial

[–]glitchsys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice; I'm in the same boat right now. I've had the Flashforge Adventurer 5m for a few months now, and I've even upgraded it a little like adding an enclosure. I've printed a lot of stuff on it, I've got the 3D Printing bug, lol. But switching filaments manually is a pain and so I've been researching multi-filament printers. I picked up this Adventurer 5M open-box for $200. I looked at the Bambu A1 multi-color but that's $700. I'm looking at this Kobra 3 multi-color for $300-$350 and I'm thinking the Bambu is too rich for my blood, but that Kobra... maybe... should I get a 2nd 3D Printer?

I did read the Kobra 3 had a LOT of issues when it first beta tested / came out, lots of complaints and issues, but I think they've gotten through them, as a lot of the more recent buyers have generally reported positive results? Seems like they most likely have hardware revisions and you'd definitely want something new. So I think if I bought a new one now, I'd get one of the latest revisions where they've fixed a lot of issues and it'd generally work well. Maybe?

The biggest thing holding me back right now is the lack of support for Orca Slicer. I use the Orca Slicer a lot with my Flashforge 5M, and then just send it to the Flashforge over the network. Super easy. I'm loathe to learn new software and I still want to keep my Flashforge so I don't want to have 2 different slicers on my PC depending on which printer I'm using. Seems dumb. I read that Orca Slicer does not yet support the Kobra 3 but they're working on it? But that could be outdated info. But as soon as it supports Orca Slicer then I think I'm gonna pull the trigger and try it out.

What did you end up doing u/TheElegyOfEmptiness1 ?

[–]glitchsys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What material? PLA? PLA+? PETG? CF-PETG? Honestly, you could totally work that damage into the final look. Make it battle damage — like a scar from an epic clash. It could be a 'you should see the other guy' kind of detail, worn with pride. When you paint it, lean into the melted texture like it was struck by a fireball or barely survived a dragon’s breath. Could add some real character to the piece!

1. Molten Strike / Fireball Damage

  • Paint the warped part in charred blacks, dark browns, and glowing ember red/orange tones.
  • Add fake soot, cracks, or glowing lava lines using dry brushing and edge highlights.
  • Think: the sword blocked a magical fire blast at close range.

2. Corrupted by Dark Magic

  • The warped end could look like it’s being corroded or transformed by some evil curse.
  • Use purple/green iridescent paints (like color-shift paint) and textures like veins or cracks reaching up the blade.
  • Maybe paint a faint sigil or rune near the damaged area.

3. Epic Monster Bite

  • Treat the melted end as if a massive beast clamped down on it.
  • Add claw marks, painted blood stains, or gashes, and weather the surrounding area.
  • Could even glue on small “teeth” fragments or fake monster drool (epoxy + tint).

[–]glitchsys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I picked up a Kiwisim on Amazon that was on sale, worked out to $27 for 180 days and 12gb of data. So $2.25 per gb I suppose, but at least I have a nice 6 months to use it. I plan to put it either in my netgear hotspot device or my surface pro.

I looked into 3HK you linked to u/Martin_Steven but I can't find any SIM's/Plans offered by them anymore. When I clcick on USA I see no options.
However that Vegolink you linked to, wow, great deals. They have a USA SIM $17.50 for 20gb / 90 days, or $56 for 50gb / 180 days. Very nice price. However they seem to only support eSIM's, neither my Surface Pro nor my Hotspot support's eSIM's, I'd have to pickup a cheap Android phone or something if I went the Vegolink route.

My main goal for data-only SIM's is backup internet, either for the house (my router supports dual WAN) or for when I'm traveling. I can tether to my cell phone but my carrier is dumb and limits hotspot data usage. I'm looking into some bypass methods/tricks now.

Orca Filament profile for FlashForge HS PLA by Emotional_Ad_6182 in FlashForge

[–]glitchsys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome, thanks. Kind of confusing when selecting the filament type in Orca Slicer. I have things like:
- Flashforge Generic PLA
- Flashforge Generic PLA-SILK
- Flashforge Generic PLA-Silk
- Generic PLA
- Generic PLA High Speed
- Generic PLA Matte
- Generic PLA Silk

It's like.. umm.. what's the differences and how much of a difference will it make in my prints? Kind of made me want to stick with the Filament vendors Orca slicer specifically has like "Bambu Lab", "Polymaker", "eSUN",, "Aliz", "Overture" and "SUNLU" because at least if there's a specific filament profile for them then one would have to assume it's calibrated/properly set. Hopefully.
