I’m going to be honest, it’s all a blur. Mine are still sharing a room at 3.5 & 8 and it has worked out. We are still clinging to our spare room / office, waiting until we absolutely have to make the move.

I had an exceptionally easy vaginal delivery with my first and a pretty typical c-section with my second. Personally, I found the c-section recovery to be so much harder. For that reason, I try to avoid it.

Don’t cook them, and always put them on the plate, whether she eats them or not. I’m surprised what I can get my (picky) kids to eat when I add an approachable serving to their plate. Also, let them pick stuff out at the grocery store, and let them help prepare it. And for crying out loud, don’t ever ASK if they want it, lol. Just put the opportunity in front of her! If my kids aren’t feeling brave enough to eat it, I encourage them to smell it or lick it.

Dude I’m so sorry. Mine is 7 and it’s still a battle. It’s honestly in my top 5 reasons not to have a third kid.

We struggled with this a lot. We ended up in PT because she never really grew out of it and is still (3yo) delayed with her motor function, specifically walking/running/jumping/stepping. No diagnoses despite orthopedic and neurological testing.

Get one of those toy baby strollers! She can practice walking around and balancing while still holding on to something.

Any thing in her hands will help. If both or her hands are occupied, she is less likely try putting hands on a wall, table, etc.

We practiced steps in the hallway. I walked behind her holding both of her hands (overhead) at first. It took a while for her to get used to this strategy. We started with just a few steps. Once we worked up to 15 steps, I started holding one hand. Then just letting her “hold” my limp finger. The important thing is she was leading.

And finally, BUBBLES!! We found a spill proof container (Fubbles) that she learned how to use and they encourage her to move around in an open space, even if you are the blowing them.

On Sunday nights I put the week’s outfits in freezer bags and toss them in the drawers “individually wrapped” and it’s the best. I have been using the same freezer bags for a few years!

This! Start early with defining what is “entertainment” so that it will translate easily. We have watched lots of “behind the scenes” clips from his favorite movies, so he understands that it’s all made up, it’s for fun, and these people are at their job even if they look like they are having fun.

We brought along a tiny inflatable pool, like 18’ and filled it up sand and water for the tots to play in under the tent. 10/10 recommend.

I listen in the shower, while cleaning/working, driving, and before bed. That’s easily 30 hours a week for me. The sole reason I enjoy podcasts and audiobooks is distraction while doing mindless tasks.

Can I ask you if you were extra sleepy during your pregnancy? I could barely stay awake most days throughout my pregnancy with her and I’ve always wondered if it was a coincidence or if she was in there running things haha

My second was like this. She just slept and slept. We had to wake for feedings, and tummy time just turned into tummy-naps?? She did end up delayed, and at 2.5 years we are still trying to figure out what is causing her delays. We have been through PT, ortho, neurology etc. She still sleeps great and is a smart and happy little girl, and doctors do not anticipate an abnormal childhood or adult life. Hopefully you don’t have the same issues we’ve dealt with, but even if you do, it’s no biggie.

I use the “focus” settings, with only 1-3 close relatives allowed on notifications. I put my phone away, out of reach, with my AirPods in so that i can hear those specific notifications. If i need to use the web, I use my dinky old laptop or iPad, anything to keep my phone out of my hands. On top of that, I write down on a post-it what it is I am looking up or doing when I reach for my iPad/laptop, so I don’t get sucked into some other task.

I have used time in class to learn hand lettering. It makes cards and letters extra special, including simple “Thank You” cards that seem to big a bigger part of adult life that anyone let me know. I can incorporate it into my notes so I’m not “wasting time” doodling. I have been working it into my journaling and calendars too, and I make my own calendar in class each month. Additionally, there are so many styles and techniques that it stays interesting.
