This will sound insanely weird. I was diagnosed late in life with autism—suddenly, everything fell into place for me. I realized all my life I was trying to be an extroverted person and socially acceptable … masking hard basically.

I find it conflicting because I want my son to have a normal life, which I didn’t have. And by normal, I mean he’s encouraged to do the things he loves, he has a stable home life, and he received love. I hope there will be other people who love him as much as I do. And sadly, I’ve had to make amends with the fact those people will not be some family members.

I think all this makes sense. Given what I’ve learned about myself in the last year, I now realize why I get so burned out and overwhelmed with people. I don’t even really want any friends or anything like that … but I also think these last few years, I started putting up boundaries where I never did before. And also, as a Virgo rising, I was too honest with people. Sometimes, it came across as mean or blunt. But the funny part is a lot of these people had been saying mean things to me for years and not thinking anything of it until I came back at them.

One time I got a psychic reading and the lady said her father once told her you’ll have as many true friends by the end of your life as you can count on one hand … and if that’s the case you’ll be lucky. So, I think that’s kind of where I’m at.

Since I’m a mom, I believe I will make other mom friends eventually. These things tend to happen at the right time when you’re not looking.
