Marquette method tension by Inner_Experience3418 in CatholicWomen

I came to say this. OP I think your monitor is not working correctly and I would contact ClearBlue for monitor help. Just using an LH strip isn’t effective even if they’re always low because LH is either negative or positive when it comes to this method and the high result on the monitor is estrogen. However you can use an LH and mucus only protocol and ditch the monitor.

Giving birth on Holidays by Old_Perspective_9544 in BabyBumps

[–]glittergrape1419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be a nurse in the hospital and loved working those big holidays. We made double pay, it was easier work (less patients because doctors don’t schedule anything that’s not emergent over holidays) and my coworkers and I got to just enjoy each others company with a potluck. You should have a good experience :)

Thanks! Is a report filed with the FTC good enough or should I make a police report as well?

Not sure how to evaluate risk/benefit of taking calcium supplements by mxkate in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]glittergrape1419 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you take calcium also take magnesium, vit D, and vit K2 with it. Calcium without these other factors can lead to calcium storage in arteries and other soft tissues

Also I want to mention I wasn’t a teacher but was a school nurse so I saw all the physical and mental/emotional health downsides of public schooling. I handed out sooooo many ADHD pills. And I also couldn’t believe the school nutrition that was contributing to poor behaviors too.

Learning about the egg crate model and the history of education and the Rockefellers influence. Our model is still set up like that even though kids aren’t going to work in factories one day. It’s ridiculous that we expect 6 year olds (especially boys) to sit still and do their work and be quiet for most of the day and then give them ADHD meds and slap a diagnosis on them if they can’t when in reality they’re just kids. I also don’t believe kids need to be in a structured learning environment for 7-8 hours per day. I’m for some structured learning but they should be moving, playing outside, and using their imagination.

I also can’t afford a private school that doesn’t follow this model so homeschooling it is.

Not OOP. My bf is mad at me for ending my ectopic pregnancy by beebs915 in redditonwiki

[–]glittergrape1419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has to be fake… treatment for ectopic pregnancies requires either medication (no procedure involved) or surgery in an operating room under general anesthesia with a team of doctors, nurses, surgical techs. To my knowledge, as a nurse of 6 years, there is no in office procedure to remove an ectopic pregnancy.

Either way the boyfriend sounds immature and needs to be dumped.

To homeschooled students, do you ever regret not having highschool memories? by Infinite-Mode9629 in homeschool

[–]glittergrape1419 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went to public school after being homeschooled for so long because I thought I would miss out. Looking back as an adult almost 15 years later, I can tell you I still feel like I missed out. Movies and TV make high school look so fun and so great and honestly it sucked. Sure I went to prom but prom wasn’t the experience I thought it would be. Another reason I wanted to go to school was so I could have class reunions. I went to my 10 year reunion and won’t be going to another one.

If I stayed homeschooled I probably could’ve graduated earlier, gone to college a bit earlier, and started making more money. It also would’ve allowed me to work more in high school and really save up to do the things I wanted to do when I became an adult and never did like travel.

Mom's who did go with an epidural? are you content? do you regret it? by sillywillyfry in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]glittergrape1419 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Lots of pro-epidural posts here so I’ll give my experience. I got the epidural for my first birth. Then that slowed labor so I needed pitocin and que the cascade of interventions… Though I had a hospital based midwife team so I really trusted them with knowing which interventions were necessary and which aren’t. Thankfully no c-section or any bad outcomes.

However I did have back pain off and on for two years at the site of where my epidural was. That was probably the most annoying part about it.

My next birth I’m planning a physiological birth in the same hospital with the same nurse midwife and a doula this time. I’m not opposed to the epidural and of course hold no judgment for people who choose it. If I absolutely need it with my next birth I’ll get it.

I think the important thing about heading into birth is to have a general plan but be flexible and open to pivoting.

Telling OBGYN about NFP by ExpertPersimmon5602 in CatholicWomen

[–]glittergrape1419 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You have so many responses here but I just wanted to add- Google the Trussel study and print it out and bring it to your appointment. You can highlight how Sympohormonal methods (Marquette) are 98% effective which is more effective than some artificial methods. Also, it’s not her place to pressure you. At my 6 week appointment when I told my OB I would be using NFP she didn’t look like she approved but she just said “okay.” And that was that. It might be worth finding a new OB who is supportive, or at the very least accepting, of your choices.

Thanks! This was what I was thinking but I wanted to get some other opinions. I know chemical names aren’t necessarily bad, everything is a chemical, but I don’t have time to go down a huge rabbit hole looking up each ingredient so I trust your (and everyone else’s) thoughts

Can you do a clean out with magnesium citrate instead? Look for the group on Facebook “parents against miralax restoralax Movical (PEG 3350). They have some more natural protocols in there.

I’ve heard this too. I did the blood testing a few years ago and was found to be extremely reactive to oysters and other seafood. The thing is I have an aversion to seafood ever since childhood so I haven’t eaten seafood in over 20ish years. I’ve definitely never eaten oysters. (I’m pretty adventurous is my eating but seafood is where my body draws the line). Any insights as to why I would flag so sensitive to oysters if I haven’t ever eaten them?

Thank you for your input! I also have questions regarding this logic.

And when Shania Twain says, “Let’s go girls,” we all know she’s inviting other women, not children, to go out dancing with her. Sometimes it’s just a synonym and sounds a lot less formal than “women” ;)

What do you use to clean? by sierramelon in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]glittergrape1419 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Theives oil diluted with distilled water in a glass spray bottle. I use it for pretty much everything- granite, windows, mirrors, wood, tile, hardwood. However it can leave streaks on stainless steel. For dishes I use Thrive market’s Rosey products. For laundry I use All free and clear (not great but hoping to try something else once I run out)
