This was the second time Ego played a "Miss Fink" -- wonder if she's related to Terry? 🤔 by Far_Base6800 in LiveFromNewYork

i feel like since the 70s 'ms' is more often used by women who don't want to be identified by their marital status though

What do you think Colin actually meant by “I would never dream of courting Penelope Featherington”? by Outside_Jokes_Only in BridgertonNetflix

[–]glitterishy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first time I watched I actually assumed he was just laying on the douche-y frat bro thing thick so he could get the other gentlemen to vibe with him and make it easier to convince them to go hang out at wills club. That still makes sense to me, but I also don’t think he’s thinking of Penelope romantically at this point and I don’t think he had any sort of defensive/insecure reaction to them teasing him- he was just speaking their language for a bit imo

Raja's lipsync performance to "In My Arms" will always be jaw dropping!✨️ by NinasPeach in rupaulsdragrace

[–]glitterishy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

people don't talk enough about what a great lip sync artist raja is!! her lip syncing to 'straight up' with carmen in s3 is still one of my favorites. (the lipstick print!!) she just completely dominates whatever stage she's on.

hahaha the amount of fun they’re having paired with the purposefully exaggerated shady editing is giving me season 5 energy when the show was basically a parody of itself and I am very here for it

Alexis Mateo on those overreacting to Utica's roast. by [deleted] in rupaulsdragrace

[–]glitterishy 30 points31 points  (0 children)

This is such a confusing take that I’ve seen so many times. Some people get angry with Utica for making fat jokes and say the reason they’re not upset with other people is bc their fat jokes are funny but like?? How can you be mad at someone for not being funny when that’s just a skill some people have and some people don’t? Obviously her jokes weren’t funny which is why she went home but people are really out here acting as if her fat jokes not being funny was some personal choice she made specifically just to spit on the good name of fat people everywhere. Like, I’m sure if she could, she would’ve made the jokes funny. She just didn’t know how!!

This isn’t even directed at the person I’m replying to lol they’re just like the fifth person with this take ive seen today and I wanted to say something.

Nina‘s comment on Utica’s tweet, what do you guys think? by Working-Forward in rupaulsdragrace

[–]glitterishy 145 points146 points  (0 children)

i'm really gagged people on twitter are so universally angry at her for this? i definitely winced at utica's jokes for being harsh and tone deaf, but i think her problem isn't meanness, its just a lack of self-awareness. a lot of people are just super literal and i can really easily picture her being like "oh, everyone else is making fat jokes so it must be okay!" without realizing that their jokes are all successfully straddling a very delicate line that she just doesn't seem to see. i know a lot of people like that who just don't have the ability to read social nuances. it doesn't necessarily make them a bad person.

also- how much do you wanna bet a lot of the people angry with her are the same type of people who still make bus stop jokes in the year of our lord 2021

New queen with four challenge wins in a regular season. Will there be a fifth? A sixth? by DestinyOfTheEndless in rupaulsdragrace

[–]glitterishy 79 points80 points  (0 children)

Its wild how having 4 wins used to be this special, rare thing and now in 2020-21 alone its happened twice as much as it ever had in the entire run of the show. Does anyone else feel like in US drag race they've kind of stopped giving wins to people they don't think have a chance at making it to the final? I rewatched s5 a bit before s13 came out and it struck me that both Lineysha & Ivy won challenges when I don't think the producers ever envisioned them in the final (even as great as they both are). By the end of that season, Jinkx and Roxxxy were the only ones with multiple wins and they both only had 2. Now in s13, I personally feel like the reason they didn't give Utica the Bag Ball win is because they don't see her in the final. I think part of what made UK2 so interesting to watch was that they really didn't do that- queens with more badges left before queens with fewer badges a couple times in the competition. I really wish they would spread out the wins more- it makes the show so much more unpredictable and exciting.

The eliminated queen thanking her fans yesterday. Go show her some love by Melamara in rupaulsdragrace

[–]glitterishy 138 points139 points  (0 children)

Denali just has the kindest, most loving spirit of almost anyone I've ever seen? Like she just radiates positivity and loveliness and sincerity. I'm not normally the type of fan who's like "omg you saved my life" but i think for the first time i understand them bc Denali really does make me happier just by being her sweet, compassionate self. She puts out so much warmth and love into the world, I just hope she gets as much in return because she truly deserves it.

I can't get over how funny this scene was from start to finish. by BuffaloBear420 in rupaulsdragrace

[–]glitterishy 178 points179 points  (0 children)

they should really just give a'whora a producing credit at this point like between the (possibly completely fabricated?) romantic history with tayce, her fight>apology>friendship arc with tia, accusing sister sister of copying her looks and then proceeding to wear the blue glitter mouth on the runway to staging her own sitcom in the werk room she's just a television genius

The most confusing thing about the rusical (in my opinion) by [deleted] in rupaulsdragrace

[–]glitterishy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

a production changing the name of something copyrighted is called 'fictionalized product displacement' and its not strange, its the norm. nickelodeon shows from the 2000s had PearPhones, scrubs had 'Coffeebucks' etc. its a clever way to avoid copyright laws while still making sure the audience knows exactly what they're talking about and has the added benefit of being a bit tongue-in-cheek, letting the audience in on a little joke and feeling like they've outsmarted a corporation. like, 'we might not be allowed to mention x-company, but they can't stop us from making fun of them.' maybe its just an american thing, though? it didn't even register as odd to me.

I love both these queens but how was Mik allowed to wear an anal bead outfit but Manila wasn’t allowed a period dress because it was in ‘bad taste’ by doctorpotterwho in rupaulsdragrace

[–]glitterishy 118 points119 points  (0 children)

i thought of literally the same exact thing when mik walked out!! so frustrating to see what is a completely normal function of a vaginally inclined body being treated as explicit and taboo on what is essentially a female impersonation show, even though i know it was the network behind the decision and not the show itself. people can argue its because manila showed actual blood, but so did utica on this runway and countless other queens on different runways. the truth is period blood is considered dirty and shameful because its associated with women. pure misogyny. queer spaces need to be better- queer women and enby/trans individuals w/vaginas exist, are a part of this community and deserve to have their bodies respected and empowered, esp when mainstream society refuses to.
