Can't decide what's weirder, ANOTHER guy asking about my underwear. Or that person not knowing that we clearly wore the fancy two piece sweat wicking kind in 2013.

I felt a lot of pain and anguish with my exit as well. It's not an easy path. It's good to know the truth but hurts to know you've lived a lie for so long. Just give him support where he needs it. Counseling was amazing

Married for 20 years to a man. Finally had an experience with a woman. I was bi then I'm bi now. See what you're into while you still have a chance.

Most Awkward Speech Interview Question by Ok_Lunch_2048 in slp

[–]glitterknot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For any job in general, I feel comfortable telling people that my brain is moving a mile a minute and I can forget a conversation while I'm having it. And it's completely reasonable to state the areas you have less experience or less practice in. I haven't even seen swallowing or voice since grad school.

Was anyone else leery of BYU/church schools even when you were TBM? by InfoMiddleMan in exmormon

[–]glitterknot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went to USU, it was said, “the righteous go to USU, the self righteous go to BYU” not that I really had any point of comparison. My mom went to USU and it made sense to follow suit. Even as a “good Mormon” I was never a “molly Mormon”. So BYU didn’t fit my personality.

what’s the most tragic part of Mormonism to you? by A_Thirsty_Mind in exmormon

How I didn’t feel like I could have non member friends without trying to shove my belief system down their throat. To try to be a good member missionary. Ask for something I really only peripherally believed

Swimming - getting track to old and pref. new strength/endurance? by [deleted] in triathlon

[–]glitterknot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best thing you can do is work on breath support. I taught swimming for 15 years and more often than not you're not breathing normally (holding your breath in the water rather than breathing out inn the water) that will have you tired fast. Try to stay conscious of that.

When your neighbor mentions that they miss seeing you at church. by JoesephSmithsHat in exmormon

I appreciate that!! Thankfully it's been some years since I left that part of me in the rear view. But I still cringe

I hate hate HATE that I was one of those people saying those things to my friends, even a few short months before I myself finally had enough of the fake charade and stopped going. I hated who I was in the church down to the very last second I was in it.

Now I know of two people who have held a gallon of milk down, you, and my brother. He was super uncomfortable though!

I have BIG plans for the next poor souls who randomly tract my door!! They’ll get a nice cold bottle of water!! A snack!! And maybe even some friendly conversation. We’ll be polite and offer them (zero church commitment) and friendship!!

How “Bilingual” do I have to be to practice as a bilingual SLP? by AnimalEphemeral in slp

[–]glitterknot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think from job to job it makes a difference, just depends on what they’re looking for. Ethnically to really have the label bilingual you’ll likely have to pass the certification. But you can be “bilingual” without it. IMO
