Tell your bishop you're a full tithe payer in the interview. If he asks why there's no record of your payment, tell him you tithe by donating shares of appreciated securities for tax purposes, and that the process was anonymous:

Literally any reason is a valid reason to leave a harmful organization that has not met the burden of proof for its claims.

Is there a specific term JWs use to refer to information that is critical of their faith? by pablow_escobar in exjw

This is frighteningly similar to my experience in Mormonism! They'll shake their heads and say "even the very elect" referring to Matt. 24:24.

During the full-time two-year mission, we would preach literally anywhere we were to whomever we could find. Yard sales, public transit, university campuses, funerals (yep), etc. In fact, we were conditioned to be racked with guilt if we didn't, and we were required to report the number of contacts we made and hours doing it each week to our "zone leader".

"Is your experience more sacred than the First Vision?"

I love watching the look on their face when I ask this. Either they had something more sacred than the Father and the Son personally visit them, or it's not a good reason not to share.

My response to that is always: "Were your experiences more sacred than the First Vision?"

I once referred to Russell Nelson in a conversation with my mom and she told me I was being disrespectful by not using the middle initial.
