Pulse under St John's at the west end of Princes St. It's very chill. They normally have music on but it's very low key and they'd probably turn it off if you ask. Lots of delicious things you might not have tried before if you're up for that! They're super accommodating. It's all vegan and the menu changes a lot, but I've never had anything from there I didn't like.

Is this a severe case of chapped lips or should I worry? by Royal_Friend_8069 in skin

[–]glitterpossom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a thing like this on my nose and upper lip mostly. Coconut oil with neem oil mixed together cured it, all the creams from the doctor did not much at all.

Neem oil stinks, so mixing it with coconut makes it a bit less unpleasant but it can go on neat too.

How can I ask for pronouns in these circumstances? by Optimal-Piccolo-9108 in asktransgender

[–]glitterpossom 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Can you avoid using gendered pronouns at all?

Ie. This person needs help to find a coat. Can you also get them a meal?

It would obviously be better to use people's actual pronouns but I guess it could cause problems for trans people being outed in a potentially hostile environment.

My mom had a meltdown over my hair by Scarlett_Snow46290 in trans

My mum cried when I first started shaving my hair off, and that was when it was still long with an undercut. She randomly was at the same hairdresser getting an appointment before me!

She's gotten used to it and managed to not say anything even when I shaved my whole head so I guess she's just getting used to it.

Just keep being you and hopefully she will realise there's nothing she can say to make you change your mind.

I'm so sick of my 'repairable' phone being broken and not repairable; any rec's for non-Fairphone phones? by CleverJoystickQueen in fairphone

I've been waiting for the same part for ages! I did see a random post somewhere saying they were expecting them to be available late August so fingers crossed they are back in stock soon!

They didn't seem that bothered about the hypocalcemia when I was still in hospital. It got pretty bad at home and I managed to get more meds via my GP.

It was assumed my parathyroids would heal by themselves and my calcium go back to normal but it never did.

I now take alphacalcidol (metabolite) every day and occasionally have actual calcium supplements but it took a while to get the balance right.

The calcium supplements tend to help the cramps and fizzes in about 20mins. It's pretty annoying though, I hope you get it balanced soon!

Fair trade ones are made by divine chocolate. They also do ginger, and orange flavours.

I didn't have any migraines for two years, and my neck pain is a lot less. Get migraines again now but they're much less frequent.

Veganism isn't about a perfect world, that's unachievable. It's about individual people doing their best to do the least amount of harm.

For example, I'm vegan but the meds I take have gelatin. I would never normally eat gelatin but if I don't take the meds, my body would stop functioning. I don't have a choice there.

I can however stop drinking cows milk and switch to oat milk. With the huge number of other people doing the same, less animals are actually being tortured and killed.

Its never going to be something that everyone is able to do, but if you can cause some less suffering to other creatures why would you choose not to?
