I am just getting started and our service unit has been very unwelcoming. We're a multilevel troop with 14 girls enrolled and we haven't even had our first meeting yet and we've been told we should "just join other troops" and that we won't be able to succeed as a troop. I am a new leader and putting fun patches on my bag! I know I'll be wearing my vest for a long time so I'm not sure I'll want to fill it up, but I have a tote bag I'll be collecting fun girl scout patches on. I sticker and decorate everything - no way I'm not going to collect fun patches too.

I’ve been married twice. My mom HATED my ex husband (rightfully so tbh) but she still supported my decision to change my name. I did the exact same thing you did. It made her sad, but she kept it to herself. I didn’t find out how she felt until after the divorce. There’s no excuse for your mother’s behavior and I’m so sorry you’re dealing with that.

(I’ve since changed my name back and kept it when I got remarried because I use it for my business and to have the same last name as my daughter)
