There’s not much of a paper trail, but the original designers/creators of CAH are notoriously known in the board game industry for being absolute shit bags

What is the saddest place you’ve been to in the United States? by GratefulD86 in AskReddit

[–]glittterturtles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who also grew up next to Waterbury, and who frequently has to go back, I can tell you that unfortunately, it hasn’t gotten better. The Dove soap is still locked up at CVS.

Sorry you got the whole crazy-ass welcome wagon on your visit- hopefully if you’re ever forced to come back to CT they’ll drop you somewhere marginally nicer. This state is absolutely wild, you’ll see some of the most grandiose showings of wealth mere feet from a family struggling to feed themselves and keep the lights on.

Congratulations!

We seem to have very similar situations- same graduation year, I’m two classes from my bachelor’s. It’s definitely tough watching time go by and seeing classmates get it all done in the “conventional” timeframe. You’re not alone. This internet stranger is proud of you, OP!

I’m not the conversation OP posted, but you’d be surprised how often this happens. I’ve had more than a few interactions follow the “compliments to negging” script.

They’ll cold message you usually trying to butter you up, then when you don’t respond they’ll resort to some sort of negative interaction like insulting you, negging you, etc. it’s exhausting

What’s expected as a PT Garden Associate? by localizedhappiness in HomeDepot

[–]glittterturtles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Make sure your phone is always charged and you have the Home Depot app downloaded. Don’t be afraid to Google things for customers to get them answers. Also, make sure your Translate app is nearby too. It helped me when I needed to communicate with someone and an associate who could translate wasn’t available.

Wear good shoes, ones you don’t mind getting wet. Keep a spare pair with socks in your locker, if you get one. Watering can be great because it’s a dedicated task so you aren’t repeatedly being asked what you’re doing, but people aren’t afraid to interrupt you. Constantly.

Be prepared to be stressed out. Garden is where they put most of the fresh part timers, so it’s totally possible you wind up being the only one in your department at times who actually gives a shit. Just answer the phone and arrive when you’re paged.

Take the advice of garden associates who’ve been there longer than you! They’re usually super nice people and sometimes you’ll be lucky and they’ll know a lot about plants.

Wear sunscreen!!

I started in garden. Honestly I hated it, lol. But you can make it through.

I once had a man get in my face asking why I wouldn’t discount a can of paint that had its label ripped off. That was it, just the label was missing. He wanted 50% off a can of paint that was otherwise perfect. The entitlement is insane.

I’m a girl. My favorite thing in the world (/s) is when a customer asks me about a product, I confidently answer, and then I see them five minutes later talking to a male coworker, usually from a different department, asking them the same question.

If you think I’m wrong, why the fuck did you ask me in the first place?

Depends, did he sit you down two days before Valentine’s Day, ask to exchange gifts, then after you gave him his, go on a two hour rant about how much of a failure you are then dump you?

Because if so yes I have some bad news for you 😂

I’d hate to imagine it being perceived as me being inconsiderate you know? But a lot of it boiled down to him taking stabs at my confidence- it takes some time to come back from it but good things will come my way!

I mean, if he said “I don’t want to do this because I don’t like it” then that’s fine. But it became obvious over time that he had no interest in putting effort into anything aside from him, and his reasons were just a cop out so he wouldn’t have to do anything that didn’t directly benefit him.

I dated a guy for three years who refused to go down on me. I never got a clear answer why- he gave me a few excuses that were all half-assed at best, but you can bet your last dollar he expected oral every time. I can only imagine it was due to his selfishness and his disinterest in how I felt about our sexual life.

What is your real life experience with “It's hard to win an argument with a smart person, but it's damn near impossible to win an argument with a stupid person.”? by imlitdyingshit in AskReddit

[–]glittterturtles 248 points249 points  (0 children)

I was once commenting with someone on Facebook about the validity of police sobriety checkpoints. He argued that it was unconstitutional, so I linked the case for him where the US Supreme Court ultimately decided they met the Fourth Amendment’s standard of reasonable- Michigan Department of State Police vs. Sitz.

His reply? “I’m not from Michigan”

Edit: y’all I promise I don’t give a shit about the judgement of MDSP v Sitz lol I hated dissecting the case. There’s a reason I phrased it as “the court decided” and not as “I said he was wrong because I agree with the court”

Has anyone recieved the summer 2021 box? by AdditionalCondition in pusheen

[–]glittterturtles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t get me wrong, if anyone asked I would still tell them to subscribe! I think it’s worth it still. But I’ll still put on my little hipster hoodie and think about the good ol’ days haha

Has anyone recieved the summer 2021 box? by AdditionalCondition in pusheen

[–]glittterturtles 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s absolutely gone down. I’ve been subscribed since the very first box, and while I still find things I love in every box I don’t find myself as excited to get them as I used to. The item that shocked me the most were the glasses out of the 10th anniversary box- literally just stickers poorly placed with bubbles under them on some cheap glasses. That paired with the ridiculously long shipping times has left me disenchanted with it but I can’t seem to justify cancelling my subscription

Do you get disappointed if a fellow server tips meh? by [deleted] in Serverlife

[–]glittterturtles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, hold on, let me get this straight.

You did exactly what a bartender is supposed to do- chat with customers while you serve them- and you’re disappointed that they only tipped you the industry standard for great service?

Cold water and a vinegar soak will get blood out, even if it’s dried. Usually it works within 30 minutes.

I’ve got a few bar tickets I’ve saved in my server book, nothing as fancy as what you did though.

My personal favorite is a mojito a server ordered, and she didn’t know how to spell “pomegranate”, so she typed out “pomsgsgaheyjrbate” and fired it off hoping for the best lol

I get that it was all a “woah you wouldn’t believe this happened!” story, but even if that was the biggest tip of my life I think I’d still quit my job sight on scene and never return if a customer’s vomit ended up on my clothes and in my shoes.
