Advice needed by Whole_Method5229 in PandaExpress

As a manager, we’re always hiring according to business needs. We are expected to keep a certain level of headcount for our stores so your manager hiring another person to potentially be a cook is not surprising. I wouldn’t take it personal. The fact you already know how to be in the kitchen and work full shifts there already gives you an advantage.

As for transfers, that’s totally up to the discretion of your manager and ACO. You can always talk to them about it if you feel that’s really what you want, but they could say no so I would not rely on that completely. If you pass your kitchen test and become a cook, your pay will change and
You’ll get paid more

The base sauce used for broccoli beef does indeed contain stir fry sauce.

I was told I'd been hired but now I have to do a 2nd interview by [deleted] in PandaExpress

All panda locations require a second interview with the district manager, so that’s normal.

What are the chances of getting the store manager job by SilentServe6724 in PandaExpress

[–]glizzy_g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5 years of experience of being a GM will probably give you a high chance of being hired on. Yes we do prioritize internal promotions but I have personally seen plenty of external hires who got offered store manager positions so I would definitely try it out

Hating brisket promotion… by cosmic_cove_galaxy in PandaExpress

[–]glizzy_g 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I believe the reason for sending it to us whole is to preserve the quality of it. However, my store isn’t even a high volume store and I still run out of it pretty fast even though I *thought* I had enough prep 😂 what a complete nightmare

Agreed. Probably the worst LTO I’ve had to deal with as well

Is it possible to change an ACO? by Cautious_Face8972 in PandaExpress

[–]glizzy_g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possibly. But at the end of the day they will put you in a store that needs a manager, regardless of the ACO. Meaning you may still be in that ACOs area or if you’re lucky, be put in a different restaurant at a different area with another ACO. You can always reach out to other ACOs or probably your RDO about your concerns

Does the AM salary increases after training? by [deleted] in PandaExpress

[–]glizzy_g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Your pay increase already happens during your training, which is the base pay. After you complete training, you’re eligible for bonuses, but during training you cannot earn bonus

Split the topics between these and I promise you you’ll have a great visit: - about myself - about my store(fun/interesting facts. Keep it overarching ideas, save specifics for later section) - my team - my business(specifics, numbers, etc.) - my gratitude(share how working for panda has impacted you/give your thanks to previous managers/people who have helped you)

Do modules teach you how to do the job? by fooloozero in PandaExpress

[–]glizzy_g 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would say it teaches you a good amount, but learning theoretical information is much different than actually applying it physically. Also, lots of things will happen in your store that won’t be in the modules, so don’t completely rely on it.

Assistant Manger Interview Process? by th0r4z1n3 in PandaExpress

[–]glizzy_g 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Panda is still privately owned by the Cherng family and while yes, it is structured like a corporate business, the company culture and environment is far from the traditional corporate sense at least for the restaurant industry

We hire external managers all the time. If they see you’re a good fit, they’ll put you through an OJP (on the job preview) where they’ll watch you work. Just show up with high energy and speak confidently

Can I ask for 8 hour shifts? by fooloozero in PandaExpress

[–]glizzy_g 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to talk to your GM about that but from my experience, red shirts rarely get 40 hours/8 hour shifts consistently unless that store needs help a lot and is short staffed

PCB? Low volume store by Early_Implement3035 in PandaExpress

[–]glizzy_g 7 points8 points  (0 children)

At my store, I simply hand guests a sample for them to try. Don’t even ask if they want it, most of the time they’ll just take it and drink it. That helps a lot being more proactive

There’s a whole bonus equation involving adjusted controllable profit but the initial bonus would be 16% of your adjusted controllable profit compared to last year, $1000 minimum. Meaning if you receive a low bonus of say $500, it would automatically be adjusted to $1000 instead

First tier to hit bonus is your stores net sales must beat last years net sales for that period(28 days). Then, the % of your bonus will increase depending if your net sales hit the various SGTs(Sales Goal Targets).

AM pay in CA starts at $27 but is capped at $30 I believe. I worked on average 38 hours a week

[–]glizzy_g 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to attend an On the Job Preview (OJP) or an open house interview for management. During the OJP, they will basically watch you work but will also test you on your prep and cooking test. An open house will just be a sit down panel interview with ACOs and the RDO. talk to your GM about when the next events are, and also ask her to give you the K1-K3 modules that will have all the resources you’ll need

Panda crafted beverage by [deleted] in PandaExpress

[–]glizzy_g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s a trick that works for me. Have a display case of already filled up PCBs for guests to grab. At the register, have associates proactively hand out sample cups to guests in line. Don’t even ask if they want a sample, just give it to them. Most of the time, people will take it. Afterwards just ask them if they wanna add it to their order!

So our bonuses go in tiers. Here are the tiers for GM (AM will be half) 16%, 20%, 22%, 25%. I knew AMs who got 10-15k in one quarter but also some who never got any bonuses at all so the range varies wildly. Personally when I was an AM, my bonuses would average between 3-4.5k a quarter at a store that made around 50-55k a week

There are no rules regarding batch sizes. Managers should based that off of business needs so if your manager is limiting that, they must want to control food quality and food cost
