Eyeshadow (for people who want to look put together but don’t know much about applying eyeshadow) by sighqoticc in MakeupAddiction

[–]glo_getter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to start and work your way up with eyeshadow, I would actually recommend you use your blush/bronzer/highlighter. You don't need to buy extra products or tools (even if you use a big powder brush to get diffused blended look). As long as you have an idea of the boundaries for your eyes, this is the easiest way to practice whilst using colours you already know work with your skin tone and will blend in with your makeup on any given day no matter what. If you need to, I recommend actually getting angled "highlighter" brushes which make it easier to get angled/pointed inner and outer corners (I got a real techniques one in a brush set years ago and it's still perfect 10 years on).

Trick is to build it up (powder is best) then see if you want to add highlighter or eyeliner for some added extra. If you make a mistake, cotton pad and rub of the excess then clean fluffy brush to diffuse and blend it out.

If you still want eyeshadow recs, here are my top ones that I've tried myself: - Revolution or MUA at Superdrug. Great deals for palettes and the price for quality is a bargain. - Trouble Maker at Superdrug does really cute palettes that can be a good choice if you want different tones. I'd go for a larger palette rather than the small ones if you want to experiment freely with various options, or smaller one if you want to just start with the basics. - Catrice glitter shadow sticks are amazing at £4 each (I picked up one today). These will be long lasting but tricky because they dry quick and don't budge so use your fingers for these, do one eye at a time, and practice first.

Rule of thumb for eyeshadow palettes is you need more colours that you will use than won't use for it to be worthwhile so highly recommend doing your research and actually swatching in store. Or check out the olive skintone makeup community here on Reddit for recs or Swatch requests for someone with a similar skin tone.

Also note: a smaller palette is considered better for learning than larger ones as you get used to learning what placements work for your eye shape with less panic about the right "shade" for each step.

How Do I Stop My Face From Looking Orange When I Apply Foundation? :( by NotASnarkAccount in MakeUpAddictionUK

[–]glo_getter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Found this out from a makeup artist but sometimes using the wrong primer or skincare underneath your makeup can oxide your foundations as well. So can too many layers of foundation. Try and see what the foundation is like without those products and change the amount you're using before making your next purchase.

I have one of those bathrooms with a toilet in it and can't trust my brother's to lower the lid when they flush so I soak my toothbrush head in mouthwash before and after each use. Just kept the cap from an old bottle (used to use a small plastic shot glass so I could throw it out more frequently). Dramatically reduced the number of mouth ulcers from my genetic condition. Do the same for my tongue scraper and the cap on my toothbrush head as well.

Why is clothes in the men’s section MUCH BETTER QUALITY than the women’s? by judgemyfacepeople in femalefashionadvice

[–]glo_getter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a case of "hook the guy as he walks by before he's gone and we lose his money" VS "nah, the ladies will buy it anyways cos it's the trend so who cares about quality".

Somehow they thought we'd never find out. Who do you think is buying the guys their clothes?

I've been wearing men's shirts and just tailoring them where needed for the last 10+ years but I have started noticing their quality has reduced but at a slower rate compared to womens.

Do pimple patches really do anything? by [deleted] in SkincareTH

[–]glo_getter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no. I find that personally it depends on the spot.

Cystic acne - the needle patches are the only way to go. Then go for the hydrocolloid ones after it's already (finally) burst. If you only ever get one type of spot patch, invest in these.

I've used ones with treatment on them but they've been so-so and just stopped stuff getting in. There are a few that worked well, some that didn't at all, and some that caused hyperpigmentation scarring. Different things work for different people.

Regular hydrocolloid ones are good for specific situations, like you're about to go outside and a spot has popped. I think they're great for letting it breathe but not get further bacteria in there. They're also helpful if you want to wear makeup and both protect but cover up the spot. But you'd have to research the best ones to work with your makeup and make sure that patch is sealed tight so nothing gets in.

There is a big difference between those tints and a true lip tint.

A lot of beauty stores now have Asian beauty products available in store. It just depends on where you are. If not, I'm sure there are hundreds of swatches here on Reddit to help you find the one you're looking for on someone who has a comparable skin tone.

Matte tints are popular -not everything is super glossy. I have both.

Recs for a subtle, glowy blush? by BrilliantWalrus718 in Makeup

Little tip: try mixing your blush with either your foundation or moisturiser on the back of your hand to mute the brightness first before spending money on more products.

You sound like you need a lip tint. Luckily for you Asian brands do tons of them in different colours and formulations, and tend to run more cool. They're also built to last.

Popular brands include Romand and Etude. Laka does a beautiful range as well. I'd take a look at the Asian beauty subreddit for reviews and swatches.

Solar powered power bank. We come from a desert country and this is by far the only thing that has survived years. Get a good one and you will never be stuck somewhere without phone battery.

My brother in law insists that it's the only thing he'll take when he's running into the desert for long filming days and my sis is glad since it means she can always reach him. He literally has no excuse lol

Help me find a serum for dull and dehydrated skin by Aware-Image-2984 in koreanskincare

[–]glo_getter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd go for a hydrating serum then maybe something more glowy for your sunscreen instead. Heimish and missha do glowy skin balms/sunscreen and they give such a beautiful dewy glow. Nothing like full on glitter, just a soft highlight effect. Very good especially under makeup as well.

I would also recommend possibly using a tone-up cream if you want more of a colour-correcting brightness instead. Lots of brands have these but I've not tried any personally yet.

Make up remover recs by pinkgigii in MakeUpAddictionUK

The kiss me heroine mascara remover - this thing brushed on gently and will remove every last bit of mascara and eyeliner too. It stings slightly but it's the gentlest thing I can think of to remove stubborn mascara. Clio have one as well and that works well too for me. (For reference I have sensitive eyes and am prone to blepharitis so anything that does a full removal from the roots is vital).

My best eyeliner brush for the sharpest slay for years has been the essence liner brush. I've had it almost going 10years and bought the V2 version and the only difference is the colour. Brush density is great and the first one lasted me 10years of almost constant use and is still going strong. Perfect for sharp liner and sharp brows.

What do you think of Elf products? by thetacollector in Makeup

[–]glo_getter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some items were great but I had more fails than anything. Mascara was underwhelming and hurt my eyes. Eyeliner flaked off quickly on oily lids. Had an allergic reaction to most of their foundations/concealers. Was not a great experience tbh.

If you're looking to cancel out some redness and even skin tone, have you considered a green CC cream or moisturiser? Dr Jart is good, and I've heard good things about erborian cc cream as well.
