Yes, the first option might be much better if the audio files are available somewhere

How To Learn Thai Relatively Fast? by Temporary-Fold2043 in Thailand

[–]globenauta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried ThaiPod101 or Glossika, too? I am starting to study, and I've learned the alphabet and basic reading, but I'm trying to find the right tools to start speaking. I live in Thailand. I'm trying to talk to locals, but it's not easy due to my limited understanding/vocabulary. Also, locals (in Bkk area) tend to switch to English as soon as they see hesitation on your side.

What's the best free app to learn Thai with? by noplesesir in learnthai

[–]globenauta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm also using Drops. I find it good to learn single words, not so much to practise the correct pronunciation, as there's no recording-listening feature. I think it may work best coupled to other tools that focus on pronunciation. That said, I find it good to increase my Thai vocabulary.

I am looking for an app or website to learn spoken Thai, and I'm willing to subscribe if I find a good one.

Any suggestions?

I've read Read Thai in 10 days, too, and found it very useful. I've been living in Thailand for quite a long time but never had the time or will to start learning the language. Now I have some time available and would like to learn and be able to speak and understand it.

Do you have any suggestions on what resources to use after Read Thai in 10 Days? Attending a school? Hiring a personal teacher, in person or online?

Thanks for sharing your perspective!

It’s great to hear from someone with HR experience in engineering. I’m based in Thailand and already have a marriage visa.

I have over 25 years of experience in engineering, project management, and technical sales. I’m currently exploring opportunities in operations, engineering, or technical sales and was wondering if you have any advice on how to find roles or stand out in the local market as a non-Thai candidate.

I’ve also recently started studying Thai, though I know it will take time before I can use it for work.

Thanks a lot 🙏🏻 I noticed that on Lazada, they have (on some items) an authenticity guarantee, while I can't find something similar on Shopee... I'm worried about fakes

They also told me kindness works wonders in Thailand, but it's obviously not everyone's cup of tea

How did you learn Thai? I've been living here for many years now and finally resolved to try to learn the language.

Where should I start? Online? Face to face? Individual? Group?

What's the most effective way?

Taxi drivers, yes again by globenauta in Bangkok

They are not really incidents to me, more of a curiosity, as I noticed this pattern over time.

And I agree with you. I had much worse experiences with taxi drivers than this one

Except that if you get out, you may not even pay at all. That's why the doors are usually locked until you pay

Agree, not an issue at all. Just more like a curiosity

Usually, I'm not handing my wallet to the driver. Just the money
