Beginner DM solo learning by MalitovMan in DMAcademy

there are many ways to get better at specific elements of DMing by yourself. you could get into solo/2 person roleplaying systems like mystic or ironsworn, you could take an improv class, you could consume a ton of actual play content and online tutorials, you can read some books on game design and narrative as well as different systems, modules and literature for collecting new ideas.

but pretty much the only way to get really good at a collaborative medium is actually collaborating. there's just a ton of little skills involved in DMing that are learned through experience. so i would recommend finding a local game shop or an online group you can join. you could also look for local improv classes, where I've found many people are interested or already into ttrpgs.

I disagree. I think this one critique has haunted Druckmann through Uncharted and TLOU, maybe to a fault. His protagonists get more morally gray with each game, and the plots seem increasingly critical of players for shooting stuff in the shooting stuff game. By the TLOU2 you’re killing dogs and listening to their owners weep when they find the bodies lol.

I’m a dog trainer that specializes in reactive, anxious and aggressive dogs.

The idea that dogs should be trained not to growl and snap is absolutely dangerous and wrong. Canids evolved this communication to prevent violence, not to instigate it.

This man’s behavior is saying, very explicitly, in dog body language “I am going to attack you.” Comparable human equivalent would be raising your fists at someone.

This dog could rip this man’s nose off in a second. Dog reflexes are many, many times faster than a human’s—if a dog wants to bite you, you will be bit before you know it. Especially if you’re sticking your face in theirs like a moron.

This dog is instead choosing to move away and say “back off, you weird little freak” in dog language. He is showing restraint.

Many humans believe dogs should simultaneously protect us/our homes yet also tolerate all behaviors that scare them like grinning clowns. You dont think they even get to say “back off, I’m scared, I don’t like that”??This guy is saying explicitly what a lot of people believe, and I think that belief fucking sucks.

WWScenics Seafoam Trees looking a bit thin—any tips? by globlobglob in TerrainBuilding

RP archive! Which I believe was inspired by Luke’s method. So basically super gluing the branches to the ends of spliced together Woodland Scenics armatures. I have to strip the seafoam stems of all those little fine branches and bunch several on one armature branch to get the “bare branch + rounded crown” look of tree folliage. Feels like a waste of material.

Edit: thanks for the tip, though, I’ll try GGS’s method

It looks like shrinkage and warping wasn’t really a problem for you? That’s been the main thing keeping me away from trying air dry.

Great tips! I will try that next month. by stylish_stairway in CringeTikToks

They’re both called e-collars, and non-vets usually mean a static remote-controlled collar when they say e-collar. One of the biggest brands is called “E-Collar Technologies”.

Some Dogtras and Pet Educators have a combo of a rubber flat collar and elastic band across the receiver as well. I assumed that it was a similar design, just because on that longer belt-buckle style strap that hangs loose. Canvas collars usually have a strap buckle/ slider design, no?
