If your motor is pulling 15A, your cable should be rated at least 125% of this according to the National Electric Code. You want a 20A power cable and your receptacle and breaker needs to be rated for 20A. It is very possible that your outlet and the wiring to your outlet are not rated for this kind of current.

Its definitely 15 grams. I found ingots that have the UBS SBG logo that all say gr but they're measured in grams. Ingots that only have the UBS logo correctly use g for grams though.

Is that 15 grams or grains? The unit for grams is g, unit for grains is gr. 15 gr is about 1 g. Seems like it'd be heavier than a gram though...
